Leadership

Almost a century before the Galactic Civil War, an arranged marriage provided the Santhe Family with a controlling interest in Sienar Technologies: a major tech-producing subsidiary of Republic Sienar Systems. Despite this level of influence, Republic Sienar Systems itself still remained under the control of the Sienar Family itself who, during the Clone Wars, had certain sympathies towards the Confederacy of Independent Systems. After illegally supplying the Separatists with technology, Republic Sienar Systems was dissolved by the Galactic Senate, and it's major subsidiaries were broken up.

Sienar Technologies became Santhe/Sienar Technologies, and was folded into the infrastructure of the Santhe Corporation as it's major engineering firm. Lacking the bulk of Republic Sienar's infrastructure however, Santhe/Sienar relied instead on absorbing smaller, struggling corporations, such as Curich Engineering. Eventually they were able to enter into a business arrangement with Raith Sienar - one of the few members of the Sienar Family who remained staunchly loyal to the Republic and the Empire - and acquired Sienar Fleet Systems.

Through Sienar Fleet Systems, Santhe/Sienar became one of the two major military contractors for the Galactic Empire, in competition with Kuat Drive Yards. While Kuat Drive Yards predominantly produced starships and military walkers, Santhe/Sienar dominated the starfighter market with it's TIE Fighter designs and, through the acquisition of Cygnus Spaceworks, the shuttle market as well. Occasionally Kuat Drive Yards would attempt to steal part of Santhe/Sienar's market, and Santhe/Sienar did the same, with designs such as the Ultra-Light Assault Vehicle (ULAV) and the Immobilizer 418 Interdictor Cruiser.

At some point during the Galactic Civil War, Achilles Sienar-Santhe became the Chief Executive Officer of Santhe/Sienar, and adopted a far more aggressive business strategy than his predecessors, exploiting the changing political landscape to embark on hostile takeovers of various other corporations to expand Santhe/Sienar's portfolio through acquisition rather than development. Notable business conquests of his included Arakyd Industries, Balmorran Arms, and the Aratech Repulsor Company, providing Santhe/Sienar with a dominant position in the military speeder and probe droid markets as well.

With much of Santhe/Sienar's core business located in the Tion Cluster, the Alliance-Imperial Treaty proved to be particularly bad for business; while the Tion Cluster remained independent of Alliance control, it was isolated from the Galactic Empire on all sides by Alliance territory. Unable - or unwilling - to transport TIE Fighters and other military hardware through Alliance space without incurring massive punitive taxes, Santhe/Sienar instead focused on bolstering it's infrastructure elsewhere, increasing production at sites firmly within Imperial territory, as well as investing in new locations, such as the abandoned sky city of Tibannopolis on Bespin.

Though all of Santhe/Sienar's production is coordinated, centralised, and cooperative, the corporation maintains three specific subsidiaries as "brands" to distinguish between their products. Sienar Fleet Systems is used for all starcraft - starfighters, shuttles, starships - regardless of their original design company; Sienar Army Systems is used for all ground vehicles, personal equipment, and utility droids; Sienar Intelligence Systems is used for all surveillance equipment, probe droids, and similar hardware.
