Design
The Armed Consular was re-designated and modernized for war. It retained its Weapons pod and was further armed with two double turbolaser turrets on the dorsal and ventral spine and four Double Laser cannons for anti-fighter duty. Armor and shielding were added to make the ship more battle ready.
History
Armed Republic cruisers saw use in the Judicial Department as early as 44 BBY, when several ships were modified to become dedicated warships serving in Tarkin's paramilitary force. They fought during the Stark Hyperspace War alongside Consulars with only modest battle pods attached. Republic Light Assault Cruiser's aided Jedi High Council members during the fight against the Yinchorri in 33 BBY. Several assault cruisers led the attack on Uhanayih, which ultimately resolved the conflict
