Design
Enforcer-class cruisers were built on the same 600-meter frame as the Immobilizer 418 cruiser and Vindicator-class Heavy Cruiser. Naval architects inspecting the Immobilizer 418 design removed the massive power generators from an Interdictor cruiser and discovered that by rearranging the vessel's power grids, they could significantly beef up the ship's energy weapons, shields, and tractor beams. Even the engines experienced a bonus from this reconfiguration. The end result was a very fast and maneuverable vessel that was well armed for a ship its size. Additional space was utilized to include hangar bays for two squadrons of starfighters as well as one squadron of Scimitar bombers. By maintaining the reactor performance and the elimination of energy-intensive gravitational field projectors, it is possible to install more powerful shield generators and a better drive system that can bring the ship to a maximum speed of 75 MGLT. The reactor also ensures that the ship is capable of deploying more powerful weapons systems than other similar craft. It is often classified a "pocket battlecruiser" because of these elements.
Armament includes two large Quad Heavy Turbolaser Barbettes on the Dorsal hull each having a 270 Degree Arch of fire allowing them to cover from 30 degrees of off center line fore to 60 degree off aft center. Four Turbolaser batteries housing five Turbolasers each line the Prow trench two port and two starboard. Two additional Turbolaser Batteries are placed amidships on each side. Two Turbolaser Batteries are Installed on the Ventral Hull forward of the Main Hanger bay.Six Ion Cannon Batteries with five Medium Ion Cannons each mounter in turrets located amidships four dorsal and two ventral. Ten fats tracking Quad Laser Cannon Turrets give the Enforcer-class 360 degrees of anti-fighter and anti-projectile defense.
History
The Enforcer-class was designed by Sienar Fleet Systems and Kuat Drive Yards, but the vessels are mainly manufactured at the Galentro Heavy Works shipyards at Jaemus and the Perinn Sector Shipyards at Valc VII. The ship was born out of Imperial High Commands desire to quickly rebuild fleet strength. Although labeled as a picket, the cruiser serves as a frontline vessel for a resource-strapped fleet. These ships were deployed mostly in pairs. Formations based on this number became common so sightings of four or six ships working in tandem became more common. The success of the design led to further designs based on the Vindicator/Enforcer frame. Initial deployment of the Enforcer began in 10 ABY, slowly spreading through out the fleet and becoming the Standard Heavy Cruiser of the New Imperial Fleet.
