Prince Tristan is the son of Queen Mother Ishara, monarch of Hapes. He is the elder brother of Princess Elaine, of whom he is fiercely protective of, in spite of his timid nature. Though he is older than his sister, he will not succeed her to the throne of Hapes, as Hapan culture views men as inferior to women. He is fearful of his mother, only tiptoeing around her, to avoid being scolded or, worse and perhaps more likely, marked for assassination. He longs for the day when his sister ascends to the throne.
