The Old Man
- "You sure you know what'y're doin?"
- ―Old Man Russard
His is the voice of experience. Jason Russard, the Elder, as he is most commonly known. Founder of the financial giant Russard Industries. A gritty ex-boxer who took his street smarts and fighter spit to knock out a niche for himself and his family - a niche that is a successful and respected icon within the heart of Imperial Center. His is a history that is not entirely known by even his own family, but he has always had strong contacts within the Imperial Navy - an old friend being the Grand Admiral Taylor Millard. Jason the Elder has always been counted on as a good 'Empire' man, an influential leader among the Mercantile Elite. It is, in recent years, as the mantle of CEO has been passed to his son, that the old man has taken a closer look at what he, in his own way, helped propigate - the Empire itself. Age and the ability to see other than through selfish means that comes with it, Russard finds the bright dawn of the Imperial might has, for him, lost much of its glamour. The Elder Russard has many associations, some of them nefarious in nature, including Gorgja the Hutt, Kimiiki Crei and other shady characters who, as time and occassion decrees, are called upon by the Old Man to ante up their old debts. But Jason has other respectable connections also. He has a long past, and a longer memory. As do those he has done business with. A man does not go from a street-level boxer to one of the most powerful and influential men of his time without making many friends and even more enemies along the way. Jason is wily enough to remember this. He is tough and he is ruthless, and time has not diminished either trait. Though his body has become frail through age, his mind is sharp and his will remains a razor's edge. As the old saying goes - "You can take the dog outta the fight, but you cant take the fight outta the dog"
The Son
- "We're pretty useless, I know. You'll have to forgive men their idiocies a lot in life, you'll find"
- ―Jason Russard offering fatherly advice to his daughter
Jason the Younger, a gentler image of his well-known father, is a man of honor and respect. Well-liked by his peers, he leads by smart dealings and savy buisiness decisions. Where his father was a force to be reckoned with, the son is one to be recognised for merits of his own. Jason took over the reigns of Russard Industries from his father some years ago. The Company has continued to grow and prosper under his quiet leadership. A continued alliance with the Imperials, especially a growing association with Karl Valten - who's willingness to send Inquistoriate forces to aide in the recovery of his daughter from ruthless kidnappers was keenly appreciated by the young Russard, and has established a loyalty that will not be forgotten. Jason is unaware of his father's growing disenchantment with the Empire, or of his daughter's clandestine activities on behalf of the Rebel Alliance. Instead, he conducts his affairs with continued integrity and personal diligence that has held him in good stead all his adult life.
The recent events surrounding his daughter Estelle Russard and her "lunatic chauffer" Aurelias Kazaar - the appearance of an ex-ex-wife Adelaide Kasperian-Kazaar have raised an issue with Jason that he had not, for many years, addressed - his own lonliness. Could this desperate young woman be someone he could have a future with? The fact that she is still married to Kazaar is a snag. The fact that she wants Jason to assist her in killing Kimiiki Crei, another hitch. Its complicated. In the meantime - Russard Industries and their varied concerns demand his time and attention. He is a dutiful son, a loving father, a solid citizen of the Empire. Yet, there is so much more to the quite and unassuming Tycoon. Much of his story is yet to be told.
