Founded by Iaco Stark shortly after the Clone Wars, and named after his first wife, Rossum Droidworks was originally created to purchase and refurbish salvaged units from the Separatist Droid Army. Strict stipulations and restrictions were placed on the manufacturers of the Droid Army by the Galactic Empire to prevent battle droids of those designs from being constructed, but that regulation did not extend to repairing damaged units, or scrapping them for parts. Stark made a modest fortune delivering such refurbished droids into the hands of private individuals, and used his profits to expand his business.
Perhaps the most notable creation of Rossum Droidworks however was not a droid, but Iron Eclipse: a computer virus designed to hijack and override the programming of any droid, allowing them to be repurposed for espionage, assassination, or anything else. This software was the subject of an investigation by Imperial Intelligence at the time of Iaco Stark's death.
With no surviving relatives to inherit the business, Rossum Droidworks was put up for auction by the Corporate Sector Authority, and was purchased by the Ouishii Kajidic. Coupled with the acquisition of Baktoid Industries - and more importantly it's designs and patents - the Ouishii Kajidic was able to obtain a licence to allow them to produce new replacement parts for Baktoid droids, though restrictions still prevented entirely new units from being produced.
Some years later, the Ouishii Kajidic acquired Ubrikkian Industries, and Rossum Droidworks was absorbed onto it's Ubrikkian Steamworks division.
