―Someone

Following their exodus from Vortex, the refugees of the Jedi Purge formed The Wheel: a rag-tag fugitive fleet of Jedi survivors, under the protection of the Rebel Alliance. In order to evade the Empire and the Inquisitors, The Wheel remains constantly on the move, with her location being maintained as one of the Alliance's top secrets.

Jedi refugees continue to join The Wheel however, guided there by Rebel agents.

History

The Wheel first formed when the Whaladon, the Layla, and an assortment of other freighters and transports evacuated the Jedi Enclave from Vortex shortly before a force of Imperials arrived. Escorted by the Alliance Frigate Valiant, they remained in deep space until a new home could be found.

It was eventually decided however that staying on the move was the safest way to remain one step ahead of the Empire. Shortly after the Battle of Bothawui, the Alliance tasked Bothan Sector Group 75 with providing increased protection for The Wheel, under the command of Commodore Vansen Tyree aboard the Challenger. The Alliance's elite Rogue Squadron was also assigned to protect the Jedi. The Wheel has grown steadily ever since, gaining freighters, transports, and other support craft to protect, support, and accomodate the Jedi refugees.

After detecting a signal from a Republic derelict, The Wheel was able to salvage a number of Jedi Starfighters and hyperdrive rings, allowing the Jedi to venture out into the galaxy without needing freighters and transports of their own.

After it was revealed that Loklorien s'Ilancy - until then the liaison between the Jedi and the Alliance - was in service to a Sith, The Wheel was attacked by one of her Dark Side associates. The chain of events led to a clamp down in security by Alliance Intelligence.
