The second Task Force of the Fourth Fleet - designated as Task Force 42 - is a military unit structured for the independent operation of various battle groups, each employing a broad variety of battle tactics.
It was established three years after the Battle of Endor, with a mandate to harass, disrupt, and otherwise unbalance Imperial operations and shipping in the southern quadrant of the Outer Rim Territories. This area of operations is broad, potentially incorporating everything from the Arkanis Sector to Endor, and encompasses several major shipping routes like the Corellian Run, Rimma Trade Route, Hydian Way, and Corellian Trade Route, and major systems and sectors such as Eriadu, Sluis Van, and the Greater Javin.
The Task Force is commended by General Dan, a longstanding veteran of the Rebel Alliance. However, the Task Force rarely operates as a cohesive unit, and each battle group generally operates independantly. Commanders of these battle groups include Captains Soto Terius, Dou'lesa Grov, and Rhinn Ikthoos.

Dauntless Battle Group
General Dan has a large command ship (Dauntless) with a large fighter capacity. He focuses on a mostly open warfare approach and typical naval tactics, using his numerous fighters - as well as his escorts - as part of flanking operations.
Ships:
- MC80 Star Cruiser -- Dauntless (FLAG)
- MK 1 Assault Frigate -- Badger
- Nebulon B Frigate -- Starchaser
- Assassin-class Corvette -- Brigand
Fighters:

Scorpion Battle Group
Captain Terius has a formation inspired by the predatory arthropods after which his command ship (Scorpion) is named. He uses two heavy cruisers as "pincers" to flank his opponent and prevent escape, while a fast attack ship acts as the "sting", dealing swift damage to critical areas. Terius is considered somewhat unorthadox in that his command ship is not the largest nor most heavily armed ship in his battle group.
Ships:
- Modified CR90 Corvette -- Scorpion (FLAG)
- Dreadnaught Heavy Cruiser -- Lakota
- Dreadnaught Heavy Cruiser -- Malinche
- Carrack Cruiser -- Reliant
- Carrack Cruiser -- Majestic
- Escort Carrier -- Mateo
Fighters:
- (24) A-Wing Interceptors
- (36) X-Wing Starfighters
- (12) Y-Wing Starfighters
- (12) ARC-170 Starfighters
(Grov) Battle Group
Captain Grov has a force of fast and powerful ships that are geared towards ambushes and hit-and-run missions. They pursue and chase any survivors, aiming to ensure that word does not get back to Imperial command.
Ships:
- Munificent-class Star Frigate (FLAG)
- Marauder-class Corvette
- Marauder-class Corvette
- CR90 Corvette
- CR90 Corvette
- CR90 Corvette
Fighters:
- (24) Preybird-class Starfighters
- (4) ARC 170 Starfighters
- (3) Cutlass 9 Interceptors
(Ikthoos) Battle Group
Captain Ikthoos also deploys on hit-and-run raiding missions against convoys and small formations, but uses his sizeable fighter compliment to swarm the enemy (using fighters like B-Wings and Y-Wings) rather than engaging ship-to-ship.
Ships:
- Liberator-class Cruiser (FLAG)
- Quasar Fire-class Bulk Cruiser
