Design

This Victory class Star Destroyer is a 900-meter-long gray dagger bristling with weapons. Out of the ship's dorsal section rises its immense bridge, which is capped by the ship's two globular shield generators. A hangar bay is cut into the ventral section of the ship, large enough to hold several squadrons of fighters and shuttlecraft. At the stern, three powerful engines provide enough thrust to make this one of the fastest ships in its class. One of the most distinctive features of the Victory class is the two long, short wings on either side of the craft: one up, one down. The Victory II-class Star Destroyers were used as patrol and blockade starships, as well as having main duty serving as sector patrols. They were sent out in pairs or with other ships, regularly moving into areas of suspected Rebel or pirate activity to pacify the sector. Though outwardly similar to the Victory I-class Star Destroyer, the Victory II-class was designed for deep space combat. With this in mind, the designers fitted the ships with powerful Hoersch-Kessel Drive, Inc. engines, as the Victory I LF9 ion engines could not produce sufficient acceleration to engage faster and newer vessels in ship-to-ship combat. Besides its faster sublight speed, the most notable change was the addition of ion cannons, more turbolasers, and the removal of the banks of concussion missile tubes. The Victory II-Class is considered to possess sufficient firepower to lay siege to entire worlds. Its ion cannons and tractor beam combination allows the VSDII to disrupt the normal performance of an opposing vessel, in order to expose it to the destructive heavy weapons arsenal.

History

Victory II-class Star Destroyers were produced during the Clone Wars, but not as extensively as the Victory I-class. The Victory II-class Star Destroyer was conceived to rectify the shortcomings of its predecessor through employing a more balanced philosophy. It was not until the Clone Wars had concluded that these ships began rolling out of the shipyards.
