Independence and her sister ship Defiance are the last two MC120 Command ships in service. While these giants are the last of their kind the smaller sibling cruiser the MC85 Command Cruiser is much more numerous. These giant ships act like a mobile command post for fleet commanders. From here they can Command the four task force's under them from the front lines. While not as heavily armed as their Imperial counterparts the massive shielding, back-up generators, and redundant systems make these ships more than a match for other ships in their class. Internal space is devoted to these system therefor the fighter and cargo capacity of these ships is reduced to that of much smaller ships.
