Pre-Reset

A faction of the splintered Galactic Empire.

After the departure of His Majesty the Emperor and most of the Imperial Navy, certain officers were ordered to remain behind and given sealed dispatches. These orders bequeathed to them certain territories they were to defend until the return of the Fleet. Sadly, some of the officers chosen were duplicitous, greedy, and self serving. Equally, they were ruthless, dedicated, and capable. So began the Great Schism, whereby the Empire splintered into factions again while forces of the New Republic moved into the power vacuum.

Grand Admiral Telan Desaria was given two sectors to defend: Bespin and Thyferra. Though the two sectors were not contiguous, they were each strategically valuable. Controlling 70% of the galaxy's tibanna gas production and 95% of its bacta placed the Grand Admiral in an excellent financial position. He enlisted the help of able financiers with the promise of great profits and payments, thus ensuring his fiscal position. Thus secure, he began to rebuild the fleet left to him, most of which was composed of antiquated craft deemed too unstable to journey with the Emperor. Grand Admiral Desaria was ruler of a wealthy fiefdom, but refused to make war on other Imperials. He saw his realm as a bastion of the Empire and the place it would remain in its truest form.

Politics and administration were not the Grand Admiral's strong suits and he knew it. He elevated the Moff of the Thyferra Sector to the position of Lord High Chanceller, making Tiberius Anar the most powerful man in the Empire, second only to Desaria.

Internal Operation

The Empire was ruled sternly, but justly. Slavery was outlawed and equal rights given to non-humans. When officers and civilians complained, Desaria would brook no dispute, stating that any being who swore to Defend the Imperial War of Life was worthy of its protection. The most famous non-human was Fieri von Laang, a Falleen who would rise to the rank of Marshal and command the whole of the Imperial Fighter Corps.

Elections were permitted of local candidates, and each world was given a representative to the Imperial Diet on Thyferra, though that body could be overruled by the Grand Admiral (covertly) or the Lord High Chancellor (overtly).

War with the Federacy

Khendon Sevon, technocrat and defender of the Imperial Federacy as his domain came to be called, declared war on the Empire's forces after a border incident that was the result of a misunderstanding between Sevon's droid-controlled ships and the Empire's manned vessels. The Empire's reserves of cash and its steady program of building was off set by the technological superiority of Federacy forces. Unofficially, each side stalemated the other. The Empire would continue to build and expand, while the Federacy remained introverted. Though the war was never declared over, the Grand Moff's domain was simply passed over.

Expansion

Grand Admiral Desaria used his resources methodically, building as he went and using the shipyard at Thyferra to maximum output, expanding it as well. His forces were constantly expanded as the borders of the Empire were left open to entice recruits and citizens. Thyferra's population crested one hundred million under Lord Anar's programs. That milestone allowed the Grand Admiral to launch an actual military campaign.

A series of offenses was planned and executed which finally united Bespin and Thyferra into a contiguous area. Yag'dhul was captured, thus allowing Customs duties of all shipments along the Hydian Way. Eriadu joined the Empire giving a Core-to-Rim validity that no other group maintained. Until this time, the realm of the Grand Admiral had been alternately referred to as Thyferran and the Sovereignty. After Eriadu was admitted, all other titles saved the Galactic Empire were officially discarded.

The Grand Admiral acquired a heavily damaged Super Star Destoryer, the Intimidator, and began to repair it as his flagship. After a year's overhaul, her maiden voyage was to circumnavigate the galaxy with a power squadron, showing the Imperial flag. The journey was wracked with attacks and ambushes from hostile forces, each one beaten off but taking a heavy toll in loss of life. Finally the fleet made port at Yaga Minor where Grand Moff Lei Lebron placed his 'Imperial Remant' back within the Empire.
