The Emden-class Star Frigate is the latest modification to the EF77 Nebulon-B2-class Frigate.

Description
The Emden was born of the idea that slowing the Empire down by raiding and interdicting Imperial convoys was the best way to combat the massive beast that was the Imperial Fleet. These ships work alone or as part of a small raiding line often times acting as the command ship. Each wing like structure of the Emden houses four Heavy Turbolaser cannons and a single Heavy Ion Cannon. Three Laser cannons provide point defense for the Emden-class. One positioned forward of the top fin structure and two positioned on each flank just forward of the Hanger amidships. Six Heavy Proton Torpedo Tubes are positioned between the ventral Fin Structures. A large Ordinance housing bay holds 60 Heavy Torpedoes for use against capital vessels. Four Tractor beams aid int fighter recovery and ship capture. These are positioned two to each flank giving the Emden a 360 degree arch for Tractor beam engagement. The Emden-class has the power and speed to engage targets much larger than itself and give assault forces time to board and even capture shipping.
The modifications done to the B2 for the Emden class are similar in purpose and design to that of the Consitution class for the regular EF-76, but because the B2 was an improved design overall, heavier weapons have been installed, and propulsion can remain as is without heavy work to the aft propulsion section.. A topside fin has been added forward to facilitate the installation of additional weaponry, with the spine expanded into a full sized hangar bay for two full squadrons of star fighters as well as various shuttles and assault craft. External docking ports have been retained and moved to the ventral hull of the Hanger midsection. Above the amidships hanger Recreation and crew quarters have been added to accommodate the extra crew.
