Anton and his brother Kyp form the core of a small company called Grenples Droids, Inc., which specializes in the construction of fine custom droids and droid modifications. Anton does most of the actual technical work machining, constructing, and programming all their products. A social recluse, his only contact with the outside world is usually limited to his brother and the company’s primary parts acquirer, the jawa T’kreet. Anton is a force sensitive mechanical genius, able to take apart and reassemble droids with his eyes closed. He is a tireless tinkerer and is always building and modifying another in a series of “pet” droids which inevitably follow him in the rare instances when he leaves the shop. Whenever he’s in the presence of his brother, he generally concedes any and all arguments, which they get into often. However, he knows he needs his brother as much as his brother needs him, so he puts up with it.

| Anton and his younger brother were born to a pair of humble industrial workers on the outskirts of The Works, one of Coruscant's defunct manufacturing districts. While Kyp was conning people on the streets, Anton was working and excelling at his school work. With no shortage of raw materials to work with, Anton found he had a knack with mechanical things. He began to build robots out of whatever was laying around and began experimenting with programming AIs.
The family's fortunes turned around when the brothers came of age. After graduating from a well-regarded university, Anton landed a job at a prestigious engineering consulting firm. Together with the money his brother was bringing in through less legal channels, they were eventually able to move to a nicer, safer residential sector. When his brother was arrested and sentenced to 15 years in prison, it fell on Anton's shoulders to support their ailing parents.
When his brother was released after serving only 5 years of his term, Anton invited Kyp to stay with him, knowing that he would have a hard time making it on his own and that he and his parents would likely drive each other insane. Together, the two leveraged Kyp's skills at manipulating people and Anton's mechanical genius to start a small droid repair shop on the side. The two worked well together and the shop's business boomed thanks to excellent word of mouth. They expanded their focus to include customizations and upgrade work. Before long, the income from the shop and the time investment it demanded was sufficient for Anton to quit his day job. By 2 ABY, the two were selling high-end droids of their own designs.
Things turned south around 7 ABY. His brother's mounting gambling debts and a downturn in business due to some faults in one of their service droid designs led to financial troubles. Kyp turned to loan sharks to keep the shop afloat, and one he was unable to pay, they took something for collateral - Anton.
