Covert Operations
Taskforce Unit Dorn is the official designation of Dorn Force, a team established by Colonel Sogan Dalgas to help bridge the gap between the Alliance SpecForce and AllianceSpecOps Commands. Dalgas determined that there was a need for a unit that could perform the same kind of missions as the existing SpecOps Mission Groups, but fell within the SpecForce chain of command; integrated with and reliant on the remainder of SpecForce, rather than completely independent of it. He believed that such a degree of cooperation would allow the unit to exploit advantages not normally available to SpecOps; and would also remove some of the jurisdictional complications of joint operations between SpecOps and SpecForce.
It wasn't the first time that SpecForce had drawn together individual candidates from various backgrounds to form a unit: it was a staple of many major Rebel operations. However, such units usually only existed for the duration of that operation; Sogan's team called for the permenant assignment of personnel from all Regiments, under a single permanent command. The initial members of Dorn Force were drawn from personnel who had participated in a mission to Baraboo, and thus had prior experience working together. The unit was first deployed on a mission to infiltrate an Imperial facility on Ruuria; this proved a great success, and with more to go along with it, Alliance Command agreed to officially endorse the team.
Members
Major John Glayde:
Formerly a Stormtrooper, Scout Trooper, Jump Trooper and (secretly) Storm Commando, John Glayde is a Corellian who defected to the Rebel Alliance after Alderaan was destroyed. He has served as a Sergeant and then Lieutenant in the Pathfinders, before taking command of a Taskforce aboard the Mon Calamari Cruiser Valiant. He serves as the Commanding Officer of Dorn Force.
Captain Mara Tallen:
A Felacian who joined the Rebellion at a young age, Mara Tallen rose steadily through the ranks to eventually become an officer in the 6th Regiment - Heavy Weapons. She served with Glayde on the Valiant for a time, and the two had a relationship, the details of which they prefer to keep private. A trained Vanguard and an expert in explosives, she serves as the Second-in-Command of Dorn Force.
Lieutenant Serasai Onashi:
A mercenary who became employed "on retainer" by Alliance SpecOps, Serasai Onashi was "loaned" to Dorn Force when it was first formed, and thus his status within the group is somewhat tenuous. He is an expert in close quarters combat, unarmed combat, and a variety of additional guerilla skills.
Jr. Lieutenant Charlotte Tur'enne:
A young Corellian who joined the resistance straight out of school, Charlotte Tur'enne was hand-selected to join Taskforce Unit Cresh: an elite group of Infiltrators, and part of the 5th Regiment of the Fighting Fifth; despite this unit being destroyed, she is officially still a member and is "on loan" to Dorn Force. In addition to being trained in covert infiltration, Tur'enne is a highly skilled marksman and is one of the team's designated Snipers.
Gunnery Sergeant Kyran O'Hurn:
Assigned to Dorn Force from the Pathfinders, Kyran O'Hurn is - like Glayde - a trained Drop Trooper, and is one of the unit's specialists in reconnaissance and terrain movement. In addition to being skilled with a variety of heavy weapons, O'Hurn is another of the team's designated Snipers.
Specialist Alexander Tur'enne:
A former weapons developer rescued from the Empire on an earlier mission, Alexander Tur'enne also happens to be the elder brother of Lieutenant Charlotte Tur'enne. His intelligence and technical skills make him useful for comm support and tech support, though his combat skills are in need of some improvement.
Missions
A New Dawn -
Dorn Force is deployed to the planet Ruuria, in order to infiltrate a newly constructed Imperial Communications facility, and steal the protocols necessary to allow the Alliance to monitor all coded communications between Imperial forces in the region.
Rebel Dawn -
Major John Glayde and Lieutenant Charlotte Tur'enne are deployed undercover to Corellia, in order to facilitate the defection of an Imperial weapons developer. To their surprise, the developer turns out to be the Lieutenant's brother, Alexander Tur'enne.
Darkest Before the Dawn -
A small Dorn Force strike team is deployed to Naboo, to rescue and retrieve Maren Dirge: a SpecForce operative with a blown cover. First they need to find her however, in the forests and swamps of Naboo, before the Imperial patrols do.
