Character Description and Perceptions

Haruko's clothing is mostly handmade. Crazy and colorful, it matches his personality perfectly. He likes cut off gloves, jackets and vest and shirts together, torn and ripped and sewn back together jeans. He likes a lot of clothes, and is pretty modest. He prefers things that are colorful and big, preferring loose clothing to tight clothing. He likes to wear leg and arm bands, his style is very japanese.

Perception of Self

When Orange left him, his view of himself changed drastically. He has always been a very outgoing, just this side of cocky, person. He loves people and helping them, his heart is bottomless for love, and he likes to love more people than not love them. However, as more and more people hurt him, he began to realize that even if he is ready to love everyone, not everyone is willing to love back. And when Orange left him, it was the final shock. He learned to judge people's characters before loving them and offering his heart and his help to them, leading him to be a much more wise person.

Others Perception of Him

As Haruko, most people tend towards liking him rather than not. Because he is so kindhearted, many people go to him for advice, and a shoulder to cry on. People find him to have a big heart, and is a trustworthy, loyal friend. Which is why he tends to have more friends than less. However, when people find out about Mr. Lawson, they tend to shy away from him, thinking he is psychotic.

Backstory

A hard past has made this big-hearted man love life.

Haruko, born of mentally unstable parents, lived a childhood of extreme stress. The first child, he was supposed to be the last. As a young boy, he was often on the streets, playing amongst mafia members that were close with his father. He was introduced to weapons and violence very early.

At five, his mother gave birth to another boy, who's name was originally to be Jiro, meaning second son. However, Haruko, a jealous little boy, quickly hated the new baby, and ran away from his parents, who neither cared, nor made any effort to look for the lost little boy. In retaliation to their son's defiance, they named the boy Taro, meaning first son, as their way of disowning Haruko.

Haruko was picked up in the HWANG District by an old mafia member, Joo Seh-Jong, who, by knowing his father knew he was Jin'la's son. When his father would not take Haruko back, Joo took Haruko under his wing, raising him amongst the other mafia members. They taught him how to use sniper weapons successfully, and as a seven year old, he was almost as experienced as some of the twenty-year olds.

Haruko learned fast all the ways of the Korean mafia, including speaking Korean and Chinese, as they worked closely with the Chinese mafia branch. Haruko became a goods runner for the Korean mafia, being involved with drops, and drug runs. He was small and unnoticable, and was suited well for the job.

Soon after he turned eight, he was dropping drugs for the Russian Mafia from the Korean branch, and the Russians, suspecting they were being ripped off, surrounded the drop area and threw a bomb, trying to kill the young Haruko as a warning to the Koreans. However, as smart as he was, he wasn't killed but he lost all his sight in his left eye, and his right eye was badly injured. They were able to heal him significantly, and he restored most of his sight in his right eye. However, he was no longer useful to the mafia. His adopted father, Joo, convinced the mafia lord to keep him around.

When Haruko turned eleven, Joo was able to get Haruko to a doctor who was an expert in revolutionary surgical proceedures. The doctor told them he would be using a proceedure in which he reconstructed the eye using bionic technology that would connect with his brain, and act as an enhanced half-brain for him. Not only would he be able to see again, he would be able to do many other things.

The proceedure, however, was new and untested. The consequences could be lethal.

Haruko decided to do it anyway, and Joo paid for the proceedure to take place--3 million credits--and Haruko signed away his life into the hands of the doctor. The prodceedure took thirteen hours, all of which, Joo spent nervously awaiting the outcome in the waiting room. Haruko's heart stopped once during the proceedure, twelve and half hours into it, and was revived. The sugery was wrapped up soonthereafter, and he was put into the recovery room, where he slept for three days.

The proceedure was a success and Haruko's sight was restored, both his eyes seeing perfectly. The only downside was frequent headaches, and the pigment in his eye was affected, causing his naturally brown eye to turn blue when he used the capabilities of the bionic brain and eye.

For seven years following, he trained to become an assassin for the Korean mafia, Joo being his master through most of the training. During his training, he met Song Ju-hee, the daughter of the Korean Mafia Lord, Kyu Ju-hee. Song was immediately infatuated, constantly making passes at Haruko, who neither reciprocated her feelings, but was having a hard time mustering any sexual feelings at that point at all.

When he rejected her, Song told her father that he had sexually attacked her. Her father flew into a rage and sent his best assassins after Haruko. Joo, who knew of the plot for Haruko's death, put Haruko on his ship, The Jong Rule, and sent him out into space towards a remote planet, telling Haruko to never return to Coruscant. Haruko never heard of the man again.

It was then that he began to develop problems with his bionic eye. It began as violent and graphic dreams and hallucinations. Sometimes his migraines would be too bad for him to even move in the morning. He went downhill fast. Not a year after the first signs were apparent, Haruko had developed a second personality. He only went by Mr. Lawson, and could be set off by the smallest of things, during which time, Haruko often blacked out.

Haruko received medication and for several years he was in and out of business, realizing that he got more money when he allowed Mr. Lawson to do his thing. When he turned twenty-four, he met a much younger girl named Orange Diren. A fiery girl, thier relationship started out as a one night fling, but turned into a passionate love affair. His first true love, Orange left him not long before he turned twenty-six, after which is very blurry for him because Mr. Lawson was more or less in control for around a year.

During this time, he met a man named Aiden Glen, he lead Mr. Lawson on a mission to destory Jiro Lawson and Orange, who had fallen in with Jiro and his brother, Taro. Haruko came in contact with Orange again when he stored Jiro and Taro's apartment. The flame was relit in Orange's heart, but Haruko had lost it when she left him.

After being reunited with his family, Haruko accompanied them back to Tattooine where he had come from to see their dying father. Then he came back with them to Coruscant and after several out of control situations when Mr. Lawson attacked his family, Haruko went on suicide mission, planning on killing himself when he reached Naboo, where he heard Joo Seh-Jong, the man he had called father, had been last seen. The mission was interrupted however, by Akasha, a space pirate, who hijacked his ship. However, their encounter meant much more to Haruko than he could ever express. She pointed him to a doctor who was able to replace and clean his bionic eye and brain, which was infected with a virus that was causing him to have a split personality. A ghost in the machine.

Akasha and Haruko became friends, and on their way back to Coruscant, were contacted with a strange message from Taro, saying that Jesimae was ill and they were holding up on a colony. Haruko and Akasha went, only to be dragged into more strife.
