Dagger Wing
Dagger Flight
Alliance Starfighter Unit
Known by many names at various points in history, Dagger Squadron is a name attached to various units throughout the history of the Galactic Republic and Alliance to Restore the Republic.
The earliest recorded unit to carry the name was Dagger Wing, a celebrated starfighter unit for the Galactic Republic that operated during the Great Galactic War, that was wrongfully convicted of operational misconduct and imprisoned on Belsavis. Later pardoned, the Wing served with Republic Special Forces, and provided support to the elite Havoc Squad. Though the unit disappeared along with most of the Republic's military, during the Clone Wars a Dagger Squadron was part of the Grand Army of the Republic's 77th Aiir Wing; a few years later it had been reduced in size to Dagger Flight, and was one of the few units in the early Empire to still operate the Alpha-3 Nimbus, rather than switching to TIE Fighters.
The current iteration of Dagger Squadron dates from the Galactic Civil War, where it flew the first prototypes of the B-Wing Assault Fighter. Due to a lack of completed fighters and qualified pilots, the Daggers flew as part of Blue Squadron during the Battle of Endor; a few months later they were assigned to the Valiant, and participated in the Liberation of Bothawui. They served with the Valiant as part of the defense forces for The Wheel, before being replaced aboard by Rogue Squadron; they returned to the Wheel soon after however, as part of the fighter compliment aboard the Challenger.
Dagger Squadron remained stationed aboard the Challenger following it's redeployment to the Alliance 4th Fleet. It currently serves as one of the fighter units protecting Bothawui, in particular operating interdiction patrols against smugglers and pirates. Alliance of Free Planets
