The CC-6400-class Heavy Frigate 'also called the Corellian Heavy Frigate or Corellian Light Destroyer' was a large escrot vessel used by the Corellian Navy to Defend the Corellian Sector
Design
The CC-6400 was a Large Frigate developed for patrol and escort duty. It is not heavily armed for its size relying on above average speed to get it out of engagements where it is our gunned. The Prow houses sixteen missile launchers and six hundred concussion missiles, four heavy turbolaser batteries, and six ion cannons. The amidships structure houses the hanger, four heavy turbolaser batteries, and the remaining ion cannons. The aft engine and command structure has the last two heavy turbolaser batteries. twelve quad laser cannons are positioned on the dorsal and vental spines from the prow to the command structure.
History
The CC-6400 was developed just before the clone was as a patrol and anti-pirate vessel. They are large for their class often times being called the Corellian Light Destroyer.Production of these ships ran well into the clone wars and many were sold as defense ships to other republic worlds. With the formation of the Empire in 19 BBY, star ship contracts went to other more Imperial friendly worlds. Production of large line vessels was canceled and Corellia began building smaller military vessels like the DP20 and CC9600.
