Jim Lewinski is a mutant who has taken up residence in Redención House. He is a friendly and intelligent teenager with interests highly typical of a boy his age. Since his arrival in Los Santos, Jim has enrolled at Steve Rogers High School along with mutant friends, Alex Kaine and Aimee Connors. And thanks to his inexhaustible energy reserves, he has also secured a full-time job working night shifts at a local supermarket. Life is good for Jim - he is striking out on his own, with strong grades and a steady income, and is asserting himself as a proud and confident young mutant in the face of an intolerant society. And the L.A. chicks are hot, too!

Biography

Jitters-wiki.jpg

Before mutation turned his world upside down, Jim Lewinski had a very normal and happy life. He was born and raised in Trenton, New Jersey, where he lived with his father, Joe, an inexperienced carpet-fitter, and his mother, Francine, a notorious socialite. From an early age, Jim was labled a "gifted child," and as an infant displayed signs of high intelligence and an inquisitive mind that kept him awake late into the night. And while his father sought to cultivate his son's irrepressible nature, his mother grew concerned, and after a much-delayed hospital visit, young Jim was diagnosed a hyperactive child. After numerous sessions with a psychiatrist, systems were put in place at home that helped subdue Jim's rampant behaviour without affecting his fierce enthusiasm for the world around him. Becoming a cub scout gave Jim a chance to broaden his horizons, he was popular with the other boys, with whom he displayed budding leadership skills, and prided himself on having more badges on his sleeve than anyone else. When he was ten years old, a fateful camping trip was set to shape the course of Jim's future forever, when he looked up at a sparkling night sky and asked: "Which one is Mars?"

In his first year of junior high school, Jim was a promising student with exceptional grades and a strong sense of individuality. His passion was in science and he was certain that, one day, he was going to be an astronaut. He enjoyed team sports, hated art lessons, and built his first combustion engine. Then came the summer, and with it, mutation. Innitially, his parents feared Jim was suffering from a hyperactive relapse but it became quickly apparent that this was something worse: he didn't sleep anymore, he spoke so fast his sentences overlapped, he practically inhaled his food, and when he started overtaking cars on the freeway, the scientists arrived. The tests were extensive and Jim was thrilled at his exposure to a host of exciting experiments and scientific laboratories, completely unaware of the harrowing effect the ordeal had on his poor parents.

Jim was sure his mutation was going to make him the coolest kid in school and, despite his mother's warnings, was happy to show off his superspeed on the very first day. Sadly, his new talent was but a brief novelty to the other children, and Jim found himself the subject of ridicule for his uncontrollable jitters. The stress of bullying took its toll, Jim spent his sleepless nights in fear of what the following day would bring, and his jittering became accentuated with nervous vocal tics. By the end of junior high, Jim was lonely and depressed, and his grades suffered substantially. His father, on the other hand, had achieved success and established his own business, Lewinski Laminates, and moved his family into a large new home on the other side of the city.

Being a freshman in a new school in a new neighbourhood gave Jim a chance to move on and with regular coaching from his father, he was able to attack high school life with confidence and a thick skin. He was never going to be a very popular kid, but he had friends, and he had fun, and as for taunts, he learnt to ignore them, and if confrontation came along, he simply ran away. Top grades and an armful of science awards were the icing on the cake of what was a very successful first year in high school. But it was not enough. Jim heard about a place in New York for people like him, Dr. Cullen's Institute for the Gifted, and after extensive research he ordered an application form and spent the rest of the summer begging his parents to let him go. But to his dismay, Joe and Francine both felt it was in their son's best interests that he learned to deal with his condition amongst normal people.

The debate raged on into his sophomore year, and in protest, Jim allowed his grades to plummet - often, when sitting tests, he simply doodled cartoons on the paper and signed his name Bertie McFartblossom. The report cards were an interesting read that year. But his parents would not allow their son to hold his education to ransom for the sake of mingling with a few mutants, so Jim was sent to summer school while his parents treated themselves to four weeks cruising around the Mediterranean. It was the final insult. Jim loved his parents, they had always been loving and supportive, but when it came to the hot topic of mutation, they were blinkered with indifference. So, in a remarkable act of teenage defiance, Jim packed his bags and headed west. It started out as a few days, but the days turned into weeks, and in those weeks Jim discovered that being smart and being a mutant really paid off when you're alone on the fringes of society. He kept his parents posted on his well-being with weekly letters, which kept the manhunt going strong, and in retrospect he felt a little guilty about that. In the end, he went just about as far west as he could go, and that was when he encountered a woman called Anna Fernandez. Then everything changed.

Powers

Superspeed: Jim is able to move and think at superhuman speeds. He has been able to outrun any land vehicle he has ever come across but has never tested the upper limits of his power due to the friction damage it inflicts upon his clothing.

Indefatigable: Jim never tires and never needs to sleep. He has practically limitless energy which manifests itself in frequent muscular spasms, earning him his nickname Jitters.
