One of the oldest subsidiaries of Ubrikkian Industries, Ubrikkian Steamworks was created to allow the company to branch out from repulsorcraft into robotics. During the old Republic the Steamworks produced everything from utility droids to war droids, but in recent years they have consolidated their designs to some extent, and with droids such the DD-13 Medical Assistant and DD-19 Overseer have attempted to produce a broad and versatile range of designs based on the same basic droid chassis.

Ubrikkian Steamworks was acquired by the Ouishii Kajidic along with the rest of Ubrikkian Industries, shortly after the Alliance-Imperial Treaty. The Kajidic adopted the Steamworks as their primary droid manufacturer, merging existing holdings such as Kalibac Industries, the Rossum Droidworks and Cestus Cybernetics into the Steamworks as subsidiaries. In addition to the Steamworks' existing portfolio, the company now also refurbishes old Separatist battle droids, and has a limited licence to produce non-combat droids designed by Baktoid Industries.

The Steamworks has corporate offices on Etti IV , Coruscant and Procopia; and production facilities on Geonosis, Hypori, and Ord Cestus.
