Difference between revisions of "Valkyrie Squadron"

The unit existed as such for some time, fighting several battles including Ton-Falk and Kashyyyk in the years before the Battle of Yavin. After the destruction of the Death Star, Valkyrie Squadron was selected to become one of the Rebel's small number of Squadrons flying the RZ-1 A-Wing Interceptor. Valkyrie Squadron returned to its raiding missions, specifically targetting Imperial supply lines in an effort to disrupt operations, and to drain Imperial resources by forcing them to commit more craft to escort operations on their convoys drawing craft away from other areas. This experience served the Squadron well in the aftermath of the Battle of Endor, where the unit was deployed on a similar series of operations.

Eventually assigned aboard the Mon Calamari Cruiser Valiant, the Valkyries joined the B-Wings of Dagger Squadron and continued to strike against Imperial trade routes, specifically targetting the region surrounding the Hydian Way. On one such mission they successfully disabled a the Carrack Cruiser Edean, and commendeered two Action VI Transports from an Imperial patrol escorted by the Strike Cruiser Cryptic Forest. A few months later both Valkyrie and Dagger Squadrons were deployed on a joint operation with Rogue Squadron. (Raids, Rogues and Arithmatic)

Sometime after the assignment of the Valiant to the 103rd Interdictor Squadron, the Squadron was outfitted with the new RZ-2 A-Wing Interceptor. As part of the restructuring of the unit, Dagger Squadron was reassigned. Valkyrie Squadron is now spported by the elite X-Wing unit, Rogue Squadron. The Squadron and her carrier are currently assigned to provide escort and protection to The Wheel, a convoy of survivors from the Jedi Purge. (The Ragged They Come)
