Several months after purchasing the droid - mainly for the intimidation factor that it provided during negotations over his payment - Chir'daki became frustrated by the complete lack of threat in its standard voice. After some customisation, he was able to replace the vocabulator with one sourced from a police droid. Roy now posesses a deep and theatrical voice as a result, but unfortunately often spews strange stock phrases left over from its law enforcement programming. Chir'daki came to find this endearing however, and has modified Roy further to exploit this: when asked to report his primary function, he always announces that he is programmed to "Protect and Serve"; he also sports the emblem of the law enforcement division of the Corporate Sector Authority in place of the Confederacy of Independent Systems logo that he bore when purchased. | Several months after purchasing the droid - mainly for the intimidation factor that it provided during negotations over his payment - Chir'daki became frustrated by the complete lack of threat in its standard voice. Given that the B2 Super Battle Droid is one of the most effective pieces of combat design ever to be created, it often strikes people as odd that the unit owned by Bounty Hunter and Black Sun Lieutenant Chir'daki is referred to in such a bland and trivial way. When asked, Chir'daki usually spins some story about it being named after the first bounty he collected, but in fact it is named for a "pet" droid that Chir'daki's family owned as a child, and is as such one of the few elements of his true past that he aknowledges in any way.
The family droid was so nicknamed because the infant Chir'daki had trouble pronouncing the word "Droid", often dropping the first and last letters. The original Roy used to follow him around protectively during his early walking days; the manner in which his Battle Droid often accompanies him as a bodyguard reminded Chir'daki of the way that Roy used to act towards him.
