Justinian Janvrin

Justinian Janvrin was born to Daniel de la Rubia and Jenifer Andrea Janvrin in Phoenix, Arizona in the mid-eighties. Due to his Father having ratted on a few drug dealers, the witness protection program changed his last name to his wife's and moved them from Phoenix to Philadelphia.

Daniel and Jenifer Janvrin had eight children: Justinian, William, Julian and Daniel, Michael, Rafael, Andres, and Frances (from eldest to youngest). Justinian had a normal childhood, until at the age of seven, when he began floating objects around and hearing people's thoughts without meaning to. Immediately he told his parents, who decided that he had been given a gift, and not to send him away. He managed to keep this a secret for some time, using old Star Wars movies his Father had as learning material for his gifts.

When he reached high school in the turn of the century, the debate about mutants was growing, and he and his family were suffering from it, with his younger brother William quite vociferously picking on his elder brother and spreading rumours about him in school. Despite his misgivings about his status as a human being and the state of his soul, Justinian did not feel any remonstrance in using his gifts to propel him through school, partly in an attempt to get away from his younger brother. It helped that in using his powers, he sought not only the answers to the questions on the tests, but to understand the answers, which helped him greatly.

However, life grew more complicated, as it seemed that someone had found out he was a mutant. His family received a letter from the Cullens Institute for the Gifted, and debated sending him there for a while; in the end, Justinian decided against it after the assassination of the Director of the Institute. He kept up correspondence with the Institute, but stopped sending letters after graduating from high school in two and a half years. After he had graduated from high school, Congress passed the Mutant Registration Act, and Justinian decided not to register.

Against the wishes of his family, Justinian decided to move away from his family for their protection, and was accepted into a small university in England. However, during a failed bank robbery, both of his parents were killed, and he petitioned for custody of his minor siblings, but was deemed unable to care for them, and was only able to get custody of his little sister. The rest were sent to live with relatives on the other side of the country, or were taken in by William, Julian and Daniel, who were all above the age of eighteen. Justinian has little contact with them.

Justinian now lives with his little sister Frances, and goes to school part-time and works as a tutor for foreign languages out of a local university, managing to keep his status as a mutant quiet, though that may soon change...
