Cathar is the homeworld of the cat-like species of the same name, the Cathar. Once a planet of rolling savannahs and densely forested uplands, Cathar was reduced to a desolate wasteland during the Mandalorian Wars for their part in opposing Exar Kun during the Great Sith War. Now, after this event is where SW-Fans' Cathar differ from those found in other Star Wars Wiki sites.

The Aftermath

Cathar

In the aftermath of their world being laid to waste, the Cathar found themselves inhabiting a vastly new environment. Gone were the forests and beautiful savannahs that they had once prized; gone was their history, wiped from the face of the planet with devastating effectiveness.

What was left in the wake of destruction was a barren wasteland. Massive deserts and rocky mountain ranges were all that remained of the once wonderful landscape. And from the ashes rose a new breed of Cathar; far more hardy and superstitious than their predecessors.

The People

The Cathar are a hardy, rough lot who's superstitions run deep. They are a felinoid race, broken up into two sub-species. The more common Cathar can be found in the cities and Shu'Yon tribes. The lesser common type is only found in the deep desert of the Great Dune Sea. These are often called simply throwbacks, and while it is a rare occasion to see one, they are known to sometimes venture forth into places such as Joffa and Kyba.

Geography and Notable Cities

A map of Cathar
Cathar is a rather harsh world by any means, bit it is not without its' charms.

The River Tir, which cuts down from the Enrekhai Valley, forms the Kurai Pass which leads through the Arankhumen Mountains. Following the river to the mouth of its' delta will open up the small but beautiful Kopec Sea If one were to travel westward along the southern coast, they would find themselves traversing the white sandy beaches of Oronni Bay. This is the closest to paradise that many feel Cathar will ever be able to come.

North from Oronni Bay will take one deep within the Great Dune Sea. This massive desert stretches for untold miles, and many travelers have been lost to the shifting sands and deadly storms.

Further west from the Dune Sea though, are the Vercor Mountains. A series of obsidian obelisks form a barrier for as far as the eye can see, serving as a warning to travelers. For these mountains are holy ground; they are the home of the Beast-Gods.

Joffa

Joffa is famous for its' market of the same name. This city is a hub of buying and selling, trading and bartering. Shu'Yon are a common enough sight to see, as their caravans are daily traversing the Greater Shu'Yon Trading Route between the Shu'Yon Outpost and Joffa.
