Siblings
Desmond Rist (adopted sibling post-Alderaan)
- "There's no going home, Urik. Not ever. Home's gone now."
- ―Gault Panteer
Urik Panteer is one of the last surviving sons of the House of Panteer. Offworld at the time of the Imperial assault, Urik escaped with his parents and his best friend, Panteer ward Desmond Rist. After the desolation of Alderaan and the relocation of the nobility, Urik and his family have spent the better part of the past decade attempting to keep the terrible secret of Desmond's Force sensitivity. Only he and his family became aware of young Rist's, akin to family, secret. But one day Desmond vanished and soon, the secret that they kept may no longer be safe.
Rise of the Empire
|
Too young. A phrase often heard in Urik's childhood. But perhaps the most relevant day it plays in young Panteer's life was the day the Empire destroyed his home world.
Urik was only fourteen, not of an age to even consider his true political allegiances, much less swear an oath to fight in an insurgent movement. Politics was to be the dominating force in his life, the life of a noble of House Panteer. Change from within, the principles his family had instilled in him for generations. But on the day the Empire came, the Alderaanian diaspora flocked to the Alliance in the aftermath.
Yet Urik and his family were not the only ones to have been blessed by serendipity on the day they found themselves visiting a neighboring Core world, for along with them on what had meant to simply be a vacation from a beloved home, came Desmond Rist, thirteen and inseparable from Urik growing up. Desmond was a ward in Castle Panteer immediately prior to the Death Star's strike.
Urik would have answered the call as well, had it not been for the discovery that his surrogate brother was a Force sensitive, though his parents, through their considerable influence within remaining Alderaanian communities, were able to keep the warning signs from manifesting publicly. For a while, the two became closer together, but soon after Urik's discovery of his friend's condition, the two drifted apart as Desmond was kept shielded from public life in a way unheard of for a noble son. It was not until later in Desmond's life, near both's second decade, when the secret became too big and too difficult to keep that one day Desmond just disappeared from the Panteer House.

Rebellion
|
Desmond has been gone for years, but weeks ago threatening messages began arriving at the new House of Panteer on New Alderaan, messages sent from someone who knows the truth about Desmond, and about the role the Panteer family played in hiding him from the Empire. And though none dare say it aloud, each of them secretly suspect young Rist himself. As for Urik, he does not even need to guess, he can clearly recognize the hand writing of the man who was once his best friend...
