In the years preceding the Clone Wars and Order 66, Zeke was a Jedi Padawan to Jedi Knight Milla Theron, who trained him through his entire career. Under her tutelage, Zeke found an extreme proficiency for telekinesis, with lesser powers in Boosting himself, sensing the living through the Force, and the fabled Jedi Mind Trick. He won his Knighthood shortly before the ascension of Chancellor Palpatine to power.
During the Clone Wars Zeke gained fame and popularity for his indomitable positive attitude and silly humor in the face of danger. His Jedi compatriots and Clone troopers often found these same quality exhausting and irritating, but his troops followed him loyally until Order 66. Zeke evaded his troops and escaped to space where he fell in with a group of Jedi sympathizers. They helped him expand his name, establish a false identity and a trading company. They gave him an old transport, an Action VI, named The Happy Child. He would later re-christen The Curvy Lady upon marrying his wife, Carol.
Zeke and Carol had a daughter together, Cassandra. To celebrate the baby's birth, Zeke bought a small, hyperspace-capable shuttle and named it The Sassy Wench. To Zeke's occasional delight and aggravation, Cassandra grew up to fit her shuttle's name. Zeke and Carol began to teach her the family trade and lived a peaceful life.
Around the time of Cassandra's 14th birthday, Zeke began to feel a pull back toward his Jedi heritage and a desire to act against the Empire. Lacking the means to find Rebel contacts without endangering his family and crew, Zeke abandoned the notion and resigned himself to his peaceful life until a fateful business trade with Ben Merasska brought him into confrontation with Imperial Agent Ana'Sera Beliq. Now Zeke, forced into his old lifestyle, must join the Rebellion and the new Jedi Enclave against the Empire and keep his family safe.

Tropes
Much of the planning and writing of Zeke has been influenced by tropes as defined by TvTropes.org. The tropes that apply to him follow.
Deadpan Snarker--A staple of Zeke's dialogue since the beginning.
Dual Wielding--Zeke was an Ataru practitioner before the Purge, and learned to dual-wield after his friend Rory died and he took up the man's lightsaber.
Laser Blade--His Lightsabers.
Mind Over Matter--Zeke specializes in Telekinesis.
I Call It "Vera"--Zeke's daughter Cassandra names his lightsabers The Last Argument of Kings and Roaring, mostly because she thinks it would be badass.
The Call Knows Where You Live—Ana'Sera Beliq's interference in Zeke's life pushes him back on the road to being a Jedi.
