Location

A veteran of the Imperial Stormtrooper Corps, John Glayde is now a Major in the Alliance SpecForce, and is the leader of the Dorn Force special operations team. His previous military experience includes service as a Scout Trooper, Jump Trooper, and Storm Commando with the Galactic Empire, prior to his defection to the Alliance in 2 BE.

In addition to serving as the leader of Dorn Force, he is their resident Pathfinder, with experience in reconnaissance, various forms of high altitude and orbital deployment. He has also an experienced pilot, and has trained for combat in zero-g conditions.

History
"I need to help her. She's one of the few people from my old life that I have left."
―John Glayde, of Selinica Miriya

John Glayde was born to be an officer in CorSec, and to follow in the footsteps of his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Unfortunately, the death of his younger sister - and the failure of CorSec to capture her - robbed him of his faith in law enforcement. Seeking a more proactive way of fighting the good fight, he enlisted in the Stormtrooper Corps, eventually becoming a Scout Trooper.

Glayde proved to be a natural scout and marksman, and progressed steadily through the ranks. By twenty-one he was a Sergeant, and was commanding his own Lancer as part of a unit on Naboo. Serving under him were two future Rebel comrades: Jaden Luka and Amos Iakona.

After more distinguished service, he was selected to join the elite Jump Troopers. During a mission behind enemy lines, Glayde was badly injured and became separated from his group. Official records listed him as killed in action; which led to considerable surprise when he managed to return to an Imperial outpost some weeks later. Intending to take advantage of the administrative black hole into which he had fallen, Glayde was reassigned to the Storm Commandos.

Glayde's time with the Commandos was brief. Though loyal to the Empire, he had trouble suspending his morals sufficiently to carry out some of the orders he was given. On one mission to neutralise a supposedly dangerous Rebel target on Kuat before she could harm innocent civilians, Glayde refused to take a kill shot after realising that her two infant children were present, and would witness her death. He was reprimanded; and two days later, the same woman detonated a bomb aboard a civilian transport, claiming dozens of lives.

Marked as killed in action, Glayde was ineledgable for a dishonourable discharge, so no court martial took place. The empire intended to merely execute him, but he managed to escape. Having retired to Alderaan, Glayde's parents had both been killed by the Death Star; but despite wanting to act out against the atrocities of the Empire, he couldn't bring himself to work with people who would perform the kind of terrorism he had witnessed. It took a retired Imperial Captain named Vansen Tyree to convince him not to let the actions of one woman prevent him from aiding a noble cause.

Glayde joined SpecForce as a Pathfinder, and was assigned to the Valiant after Captain Tyree took command. He remained for several years, before being selected for a special operations project that eventually formed the basis for Dorn Force. He served as the field commander under Colonel Sogan Dalgas, and eventually became the Unit CO after the team was reassigned to SpecForce Command.

Unfortunately for the team, General Torrsk Oruo'rel was not as fond of the concept as Colonel Dalgas had been and, after reassigning several of it's members to other assignments, killed the team by attrition. Glayde and Serasai Onashi were the last two to remain. Ultimately the team was officially disbanded, and the two were reassigned to join the crew of the Revenge, under Captain Sanis Prent.

Personality / Relationships
"If you wind up letting me down, odds are that neither one of us will be around for me to yell at you, so I wouldn't worry about it too much."
―John Glayde, to Charlotte Tur'enne

Most of the time, Glayde's emotions are carefully controlled and restrained. Partly that is a result of his commando training; but more critically, sequestering his emotions has been a subconscious way of ignoring the pain, loss, and guilt he feels over various events of his life. He is not completely devoid of emotions however, and when he begins to relax about people, he can be a kind and sympathetic individual.

Glayde's leadership style is unorthadox. Having learned to lead as a Sergeant - "one of the troops" - he finds it difficult to establish the kind of detatchment that is expected of the Officer-Enlisted relationship, and would be much happier dropping down in rank back to being a Sergeant again, provided he could keep the same job. He tries to make himself as approachable as he can; and he also goes to great lengths to understand the personnel under his command, and treat them as individuals with their own personal approach, rather than a one size fits all manner.

Selinica Miriya
When Glayde lost his sister, her best friend Selinica Miriya had become extremely close to John and his parents. While hardly a replacement for their lost daughter, she was very much part of Glayde's "family", and he watched out for her as if she were another sibling. During his years with the Empire she fell in with the wrong sorts of people, and managed to get herself in trouble. Glayde has since managed to bail her out; and he considers his absense as being to blame for her situation. Recently, he managed to arrange for her to work for the Rebellion, even managing to get Alexander Tur'enne assigned to "supervise" her on his behalf.

Mara Tallen
A SpecForce officer and Heavy Weapon Specialist, Mara Tallen is an old flame of Glayde's, from his time aboard the Valiant. The two were separated by reassignment, but were reunited in Dorn Force. With Glayde becoming her direct superior however, he was reluctant to rekindle their relationship: something that Tallen was not entirely happy about. The resulting friction ultimately contributed to her being the first member of Dorn Force to be reassigned, on disciplinary grounds - though not at Glayde's request, or choice.

Charlotte Tur'enne
A fellow Corellian, Charlotte Tur'enne was assigned to Dorn Force as it's Infiltration specialist and Designated Marksman. The only survivor of Taskforce Cresh, she has a reputation for being insolent and insubordinate; however, Glayde seems to have earned her trust, and respect. The sentiment is echoed to such a degree that Glayde recently selected her as his second-in-command. There have been times when a deeper personal relationship might have evolved, but Glayde was always reluctant to become involved in that way with someone under his command. With Dorn Force disbanded, Tur'enne is now heavily involved with Alliance Intelligence.

Serasai Onashi
Glayde regards Serasai Onashi as a burden. A mercenary under contract with Alliance SpecOps, he was added to Dorn Force as a jack of all trades; Glayde however chooses to dwell on the fact that he is a master of none. Worse than that, Glayde has a pathalogical distrust of mercenaries: partly because of how difficult he finds serving in the Rebel Alliance, rather than a "proper" military. After spending several days trapped in a shuttle with Onashi however, the two have managed to come to something of a grudging understanding.

Roleplay Synopsis

After Endor

Ride of the Valkyries (Link)
Glayde appears briefly (as an NPC) in conversation with Amos Iakona. (His rank is erroneously given as "Lieutenant")

A Friend in Need (Link)
With the aid of Amos Iakona, Glayde travels to Raxus Prime to rescue Selinica Miriya, his sister's best friend, and his own "surrogate" sibling since her death.

Liberation - Liberation of Bothawui (Link)
Hand-picked for the mission by SpecForce, Glayde is deployed with a small team of specialists to perform essential precision strikes against key defenses, as part of the liberation effort.

The Doctor and the Duchess (Link)
Placed in command of the team that will eventually become Dorn Force, Glayde leads a mission to investigate the mysterious deaths of key political figures on Baraboo.

A New Dawn (Link)
On the first official mission of Dorn Force, Glayde leads the team to Ruuria, on a mission to infiltrate an Imperial Outpost and steal vital intelligence and communications codes.

Rebel Dawn (Link)
Major Glayde and Lieutenant Tur'enne are deployed alone, to infiltrate an Imperial research facility on Corellia, and extract a scientist who has expressed a desire to defect. That scientist turns out to be Tur'enne's brother, Alexander. The escape turns dire, and Glayde is badly wounded, but with the assistance of both Tur'enne's, the mission is completed successfully.

The greatest enemy is the one you know best (Link)
After a messy altercation between Lieutenant Tur'enne and Captain Tallen, Glayde struggles to get to grips with maintaining discipline in his highly unorthadox and volatile unit.

Obligations and Necessities (Link)
Glayde calls in back-up from Mara Tallen's cousin, to help rein in his agressive, shapeshifting second-in-command.

How To Save A Life (Link)
After recieving the files and personal effects of Lieutenant Tur'enne's former unit, Taskforce Cresh, Glayde begins to gain a better understanding of the Lieutenant; and also begins to share her respect for Cresh and it's leader, looking for ways that he can emulate the notoriously successful unit within Dorn.

Darkest Before the Dawn (Link)
Glayde, Tallen, and both Tur'enne's join forces with Glayde's former comrade Amos Iakona, in order to extract a Special Operations operative - Maren Dirge - whose deep cover assignment on Naboo has been compromised.

Crossed Wires (Link)
When Glayde invites Charlotte Tur'enne to his quarters for dinner to "discuss something important", the situation gets horribly misconstrued, leading to awkwardness and amusement in large quantities.

Breaking Dawn (Link)
After a mission goes horribly wrong, Glayde and the team find themselves under intense scrutiny from none other than General Torrsk Oruo'rel, the Supreme Commander of SpecForce. Not only is he searching for the root cause of the mission's failure - and if possible, a way to pass the blame off onto Alliance Intelligence, to spare the reputations of his staff - but also using the opportunity to extensively review the current status quo within Dorn Force, in search of weaknesses.

Shipping Out (Link)
After Dorn Force is disbanded by Torrsk Oruo'rel, it's members are reassigned. Glayde and Serasai Onashi are among the last to remain, and are summoned to Dac for new orders. However, while en route their death trap of a shuttle malfunctions, stranding them lightyears from help or rescue.
