Ando Prime, a snow covered yet hospitable planet in the Mid Rim. For a long time, the only inhabitants on the planet were the native Talid and an ancient order of Bendu Monks. The planet had a population surge, following the establishment of several mining communities. The demand for water and other utilities to be supplied for the towns and cities springing up was great and gave birth to many forms of work. It also saw a rise in the demand for entertainment, thus, podracing was established. It was at a pod-race that Izrahedra and Mearbronne Faith ran into each other. Literally.
Izrahedra was a mere spectator, carrying refreshments back to the seats occupied by she and a few friends. Mearbronne was a racer, rushing through the arena to get to his podracer before the start of the race. Focused on keeping the carrying tray steady, Izrahedra failed to see the contestant coming toward her from the side. Cursing under his breath about being late for the race - again - Mearbronne looked up toward the countdown display on the overhead holoboard and smack!. Drinks went flying, tumbling around and around, spilling the contents all over. Izrahedra yelped, then felt herself falling sideways and landing with an audible oomph seconds later. Mearbronne staggered forward, tried ungracefully to keep from tripping over the fallen woman and failed miserably. He landed on top of her. He apologized profusely and helped Izrahedra to her feet. "I'm terribly sorry, miss. Are you all right? You're not hurt, I hope," he said while clumsily trying to clean the sticky carbonated drink from her blouse, not even realizing that he'd been brushing his hands against the woman's breasts.
"Yes, yes, I'm fine. No, I'm not hurt. Hey! Watch those hands, mister!" Izrahedra responded, slapping his hands away from her chest and scowling at him in annoyance. Mearbronne blushed, the color burning bright and reaching the tips of his ears. He did his best to apologize but only tripped over his tongue and it came out sounding like an incomprehensible drunken slur. Without further ado, Mearbronne fled the scene, completely flabbergasted by what had happened.
Whether it was fate or chance, Izrahedra's and Mearbronne's paths continued to cross. Finally, she summoned up the nerve to ask him for a date. He said yes, but felt like a doofus for not seeing the flirtations before then. Of course, his mind was always on the pod and the race. How can he improve, get more speed, gain more control; leaving him oblivious to the rest of the world around him. It also left him oblivious to some abilities he'd inherited that related to the Force. Thus, Mearbronne was never trained in the arts or control of the Force and his skills remained un-nurtured.
Mearbronne and Izrahedra finally tied the knot four years later. He continued to race until his bride informed him that he was going to be a father. Though it pained him, Mearbronne gave up racing and went to work for a local construction company that specialized in laying pipe. Life was going well for the young couple.
Morgan was just six months old when Mearbronne was involved in a terrible accident that resulted in the deaths of three of his co-workers. New pipes had to be laid for what was once a ghost town that had sprung back to life. Due to new ordinances, the new pipes had to be laid deeper than before and as the crew set supports into place to prevent the walls from collapsing, they collapsed and buried a total of nine men a fifty feet below the surface. Mearbronne and five of his companions were lucky in the fact that the supports crossed each other as they fell, trapping an air pocket. The other three weren't so lucky. Many, many hours later, the survivors were rescued and as Inzahedra was visiting her husband in the hospital, they were paid a visit by an Investigator. She didn't go into much detail as to the reasons behind a deep-level investigation but only said that there was much more to the accident than meets the eye. It was during one of these visits that the Investigator detected the Force within the infant Morgan.
It took some coaxing, but she was able to convince Izrahedra and Mearbronne that Morgan would be better off with the Jedi and assured them that she would be very well cared for and protected. The couple talked about it for hours, realizing that the Investigator was probably right. Izrahedra would have her hands full taking care of her husband, now a paraplegic. It would be difficult to care for both he and their infant daughter. The separation was tearful and Izrahedra almost changed her mind, but Mearbronne stopped her. Together, they watched their baby girl fade away from their lives, but not from their hearts or their memories.
At the age of four, Morgan was placed within the Bear clan of the Jedi Younglings. Their lessons were mainly taught by Jedi Master Neera Aki. Each clan consisted of about twenty hopeful Jedi and could include any number of different species. Since the lessons being taught to the Younglings were relatively simple and basic, it was not uncommon for as many as ten different clans to be training together at the same time. When an individual student achieved satisfactory understanding of the Jedi way, they were usually taken under the wing of another Jedi member, usually a Knight, and instructed individually to complete their training. Masters typically brought their Padawans along on missions, and later sent them on missions on their own, for them to gain experience and learn from practice.
Throughout the first nine years of her training, her weaknesses outweighed her strengths. When Morgan's twelfth birthday had come and gone and she had not been chosen by a Knight to receive specific one-on-one traditional training, she began to worry that she never would be. It was discouraging to see her companions being accepted while she was left behind, yes, but she never showed it or shared that with anyone. She was truly happy for them; that they had found their calling and others had recognized the hard work and dedication required of the Jedi. Morgan figured that her destiny lay elsewhere within the Order and would follow the path that had been chosen for her wherever it took her.
Morgan's affinity to puzzle solving, problem solving, and astute observation techniques drew the attention of a Jedi Master Investigator[*] known as Rikta Vai, who accepted Morgan as his padawan, with the permission of the Jedi Council, when she was twelve-and-a-half. Under his tutelage, Morgan's training focused on the arts and skills utilized by the Investigators: Intelligence, crime-scene investigation, criminal justice, alchemy, biology of human and sentient species, diplomacy, and customs to name a few.
Because of the dangers involved in being an Investigator, Morgan's training included the fine art of wielding a lightsaber and certain aspects of the Force, which are used for defensive purposes only. Just enough to be able to escape a dire situation if no other means will suffice. By no means is she a skilled expert in the way the Jedi Knights and Masters are, but she could hold her own enough to escape if the need arose. Because of these limitations, Morgan will never attain a Master rank status within the Jedi Order, but that was never her goal. The philosophies, religion, and principals that the Order was founded on are what matter to her the most.
Though the Order has been practically annihilated by the purge, there are some who managed to escape and now tread carefully throughout the galaxy carrying on their duties. Rikta was not amongst those who escaped, unfortunately. Morgan was on assignment, investigating rumors of a small Hutt crime syndicate newly organizing on Aduba-3. It was the fifth assignment her Master sent her on alone, just after granting her the rank of Jedi Knight.
Now, Morgan continues to work her way across the galaxy, using the skills, education, and training bestowed upon her by Master Rakta Vai to locate any of the Jedi that may have survived one of the darkest moments in the Order's history.
