In-Character
The youngest son of the eldest son of General John Heller, Monty was more than happy to grow up with all the comforts that his upper class family provided him with. Despite his elder brother's conflict with their father, Monty and Tristan got on well together, which was useful as Monty benefited from the protection from bullies that Tristan provided in school. While not particularly athletic - due to their aunt's tendency to feed her growing nephew rather well, despite his type 1 diabetes - Monty excelled academically, predicted high grades from his private school.
Unfortunately, Tristan's enrolment into the military led to Monty having to fend for himself for the last couple of years of school, and while he was able to out-think his tormentors and find some safety with the teaching staff, he suffered the occasional beating which his smart-alecky attitude provoked. It was at this time his powers manifested, allowing him to escape from his oppressors, but not before a long-lasting fear of Halloween masks was instilled in his mind.
Being the technological nerd, Monty devoted much of his time to discovering more about his powers. Articles on the X-gene were scarce in his youth, however he did not fear his abilities and instead sought to enjoy and improve them. Excitement over his powers led to a few escapades which nearly revealed them, and a stern word from the head teacher allowed Monty to realise the importance of keeping them secret, so secret, in fact, that he even relented from confiding in his best and most tusted friend; his brother, Tristan.
After graduating from high school, Monty sought his father's permission to apply to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he studied for a degree in computer engineering. Leaving again with top marks, Monty spent some time back at home. It was during these years that Monty lost contact with Tristan, forbidden to communicate with him by their angry father, who had disowned the eldest son. Upset but loyal to his father's wishes, Monty could do no more than hope that he and his brother's paths would cross again.
Monty eventually went on to accept a research post at Empire State University, after toying with various headhunters trying to recruit him for various corporate positions. During his time at ESU, he worked towards and achieved a Doctorate in Computing, and has since moved into a teaching post. Monty - homebody and not wanting to uproot himself from the comfortable home he had made for himself - was initially reluctant to make the move to New York. However, a message from his sister informing him that Tristan was living in New York changed his mind.
Powers
Phasing - Monty has the ability to pass through solid matter, be it walking through walls or letting objects pass through him.
Teleportation - Monty can also teleport himself instantaenously to places that he has been before, and to places that he can see. His range is limited to a few miles, and requires a mild degree of concentration. This power can be accessed by his subconscious to teleport him away from danger to a place of safety.
