Salem Ave is the current Prime Minister of Onderon. Very little is known about Ave's life prior to arriving on Onderon. Although it is speculated that he is from the planet Arkania, details of his family or his career pre-dating his employment in Iziz are impossible to come across.

Salem Ave was an 'intimidating, complicated, unpredictable character'. Originally born of the Baxthrax species, Salem was trained to the rank of Sith Knight by Rama Sha of The Sith Empire, and later embraced as a vampire of The Coven by Razielle Shadana. As well as being a member of The Sith Empire, Salem served time (on numerous occasions) as an Elder of The Sith Order, helped to found The Krath (with his then master Jeseth Cloak) and The Cabal, and finally ended up as a member of Kuklos Ataxia. Viewed by many as something of a nihilist, Salem's opinions on the world and those around him were wholly unique. Loyal to only himself, even those who did find themselves in his favor knew him to be cold and unresponsive, unwilling to show any sign of compassion even to those he 'loved'.
