|Born on Corellia, Glayde was the son of a veteran CorSec Officer. His father was opposed to some of the policies introduced by the Galactic New Order, and openly criticised some of their activities, but he was a hard-working officer who could be relied upon to do his duty despite his political opinions, and considered the separatist actions of the Rebels - particularly those from Corellia - to be far worse than anything the Empire had done.

|The son of a veteran police officer on Corellia, John was not the only son of Verton and Kitara: his younger sister Sora died at a young age. As a means of coping with the loss, Glayde adopted her childhood best friend - Selinica - as a surrogate of sorts.

Verton Glayde had always hoped his son would follow him into CorSec, but unfortunately John was sucked in by the Imperial propoganda machine, and was indoctrinated by COMPNOR into a future Academy recruit. John and Verton often argued about their respective political views, which ultimately led to a massive falling out shortly before John left for the Academy. When John's mother died years later, the last bridge between them was burned down, and the two have yet to reconsile.

Glayde was raised to actively question the validity of everything, and accept nothing. Glayde's father was deeply sceptical of the Empire, but also considered the 'terrorist' actions of the Rebels to be abhorant. Unfortunately for his father, Glayde chose to use the Empire as the outlet for his teenage rebellion: he enrolled in the Imperial Stormtrooper Corps straight out of school at sixteen, and serving originally as a basic Stormtrooper in a local garrison. This alienated for his father and, aside from a few token communications the two never reconsiled; Verton and Kitara were both killed in 4 BE after retiring to Alderaan.

|Though Glayde applied for Officer Training at the Imperial Academy, he narrowly failed to pass the final qualifying exams. Rather than force him to wash out of the Academy completely, his superiors instead entered him for training as a Non-Commissioned Officer. Glayde eventually emerged as a Sergeant specialised as a Scout Trooper, in command of his own four-troop Lancer.
+

Glayde went on to serve in a number of Imperial ground units, mainly as part of the expeditionary and reconnaissance elements of units stationed both aboard Star Destroyers and as part of fixed garrisons. Eventually, five years of distinguished service, glowing reports and recommendations from his superiors caught the attention of the Imperial Academy, who invited him to participate in Jump Trooper training. Considered to be one of the tougher branches of the Stormtrooper Corps, Glayde managed to earn the respect of his fellow recruits, and was eventually made Squad Leader not only of his training squad, but of his Squad on deployment as well.
+
After reaching eighteen - as soon as he was old enough to legally operate a speeder - he applied for reassignment as a Scout Trooper. He served there for years, and eventually went on to become a Sergeant within his unit, leading the four-man biker unit known as a Lancer. Longing for greater thrills and excitement from his work however, Glayde took the logical step of progressing into the Jump Troopers: soldiers trained as high altitude paratroopers to be deployed behind enemy lines. He spent a distinguished tour with the Jump Troopers, until his unit was completely devastated on a mission: according to official records none survived, but Glayde was one of two who did live through the battle. Officially declared dead, he was offered a classified new assignment, as a Storm Commando.

For seven years, Glayde served as one of the Empire's Jump Troopers, eventually reaching the ceiling of the Enlisted ranks. He was offered the opportunity to assume command of his Platoon with the rank of Lieutenant, but an alternate proposal from a different branch of the Stormtrooper Corps caught his attention: the Storm Commandos. After several months of training, Glayde entered service as part of the Empire's elite covert operations division.
+
Though Glayde was a formidable commando, he lacked an essential component to make him truely effective; or rather, he didn't lack a sense of morals. Finding the orders he was being given increasingly questionable, he began to question his Imperial masters as his father had taught him, and after the destruction of Alderaan he eventually chose to defect, fleeing his unit and joining up with the Rebel Alliance. Knowing his status as a Storm Commando could make his fellows uncomfortable with him he kept the specifics of his missing years secret from most, and instead emphasised his other skills. He joined SpecForce as a member of a 2nd Regiment "Pathfinders" unit aboard the Cruiser Valiant, initially as a Sergeant; but after his former commander was killed, he was made a Lieutenant and appointed to replace him.

Glayde's career continued to progress; unfortunately it all went horribly wrong during a seemingly routine operation. While conducting covert reconnaissance on a community suspected of Rebel sympathies, a new recruit to his team suffered a breakdown and began opening fire on civilian targets. In the interests of preserving life Glayde opened fire on his teammate, inadvertantly killing him in the process. Glayde argued that his actions had saved the lives of innocent non-combattants: his superiors, and a military tribunal, ruled that he had sacrificed a resource worth millions of credits in terms of training and experience, in order to save what it termed as "viable Rebel targets". Glayde was discharged from Imperial service, although with little reluctance.

|After his discharge, Glayde spent a few months in limbo. He returned to Corellia, intending to join CorSec and reconsile with his father, but his application was declined - though never confirmed, John suspected his father's meddling. During the time he had the opportunity to see the Empire from a different perspective, without the overbearing hand of Imperial propoganda pressing down on his shoulder. Eventually, he began to sympathise with the motivations that drove the Rebel Alliance to actively oppose the Empire. After a chance encounter, he found himself drawn into the world of SpecForce.

Initially serving as a a SpecForce Pathfinder, Glayde eventually found himself serving as a Captain in charge of a Platoon of SpecForce Rangers aboard the Alliance Cruiser Valiant. During his service there, he was contacted by his younger sister's closest childhood friend, Selinica Miriya - a girl who had almost been an extra sister too him - who had managed to get herself in too deep with the wrong sort of people. With the help of collegue Amos Iakona, Glayde came to her rescue. (A Friend in Need)

|Glayde was recruited to become part of a specialist SpecForce unit, designated Dorn Force. They were intended to bridge the gap between the missions typically conducted by SpecForce, and by SpecOps: a covert operations unit that could interact with both departments of the Rebel military. Prior to the official formation of the team, many of the eventual members participated in an operation to rescue the captured Duchess of Baraboo. After being officially established, Glayde led a Dorn Force team to Ruuria, to steal communications protocols from a new Imperial facility that had been constructed there. Glayde was subsequently promoted to Major, and was appointed as one of Dorn Force's Senior Officers. He and Lieutenant Charlotte Tur'enne were deployed on an undercover mission to Corellia, to extract an Imperial weapons designer who was attempting to defect. After several years with the Rebellion, Glayde - a Captain at the time - was approached by Colonel Sogan Dalgas to form a new SpecForce team to bridge the gap between SpecForce and SpecOps: the unit eventually evolved into Dorn Force and the Special Reconnaissance Regiment, and Glayde became one of the leaders within it.

John Glayde is a soldier in the Rebel Alliance SpecForce, who formerly served as a Scout Trooper, Jump Trooper and Storm Commando in the Imperial Army. He previously commanded a Platoon of SpecForce Rangers assigned to the Star Cruiser Valiant, but now serves as a member of a special SpecForce unit.

Early Life
The son of a veteran police officer on Corellia, John was not the only son of Verton and Kitara: his younger sister Sora died at a young age. As a means of coping with the loss, Glayde adopted her childhood best friend - Selinica - as a surrogate of sorts.
