Founded by twelve imprisoned Cybot Galactica officials, Cestus Cybernetics began as an affiliation between the captives and their guards at the Cestus Penitentiary. Eventually, droid manufacture took over the prison completely, with inmates providing the labour force, and Cestus Cybernetics became the main economic power on the planet. When the native X'Ting were all but wiped out by a plague, Cestus Cybernetics managed to assume almost complete political control, and while the ruling council put in place by Cybernetics was killed during the Clone Wars, the corporation still more or less controls the planet.
Cestus Cybernetics was acquired by the Ouishii Kajidic, and was eventually merged into Ubrikkian Steamworks as part of the Kajidic's droid infrastructure. While Clandes Industrial focuses on production, and Rossum Droidworks on refurbishment, Cestus Cybernetics focuses primarily on the research and development aspects of manufacture.
A number of unique, prototype products have been developed by Cestus Cybernetics. One such prototype is Trip, a droid developed by scientist Carson Luka based on a three thousand year old utility droid chassis, stuffed full of modern droid technology.
