Hit-and-Run Strikes
A unit within Division Five of the Alliance SpecForce - the "Fighting Fifth" - the Special Reconnaissance Regiment is a special force that was created to bridge the gap between SpecForce and Alliance SpecOps. The unit provides an infrastructure whereby SpecForce can provide support to Special Operations, and also so that the organisation can conduct such missions on its own, without the reliance on specialist Special Operations Groups. More importantly, it allowed the operations to be conducted entirely under the umbrella of SpecForce, without any complications in jurisdiction and chain-of-command.
The unit was originally formed as a sole team - Taskforce Dorn, aka. "Dorn Force" - as the brainchild of Colonel Sogan Dalgas. While SpecForce did already regularly engage in operations that combined elements from various Regiments, most operations of that nature occurred in isolation. Dalgas saw the potential benefits of a permenant unit of that nature, that would be able to make use of that cooperation and assorted skill set, as well as benefit from small-team tactics, and from the familiarity of having worked with the same individuals on numerous past occasions.
Following the success of Dorn Force's early missions, Alliance Command agreed to support Dalgas in expanding on his idea, adding in the personnel and resources to properly establish the infrastructure for SpecForce Special Operations.
Headquarters
Though Task Force 75 has no official home port, as a subsidiary of the Fourth Fleet it often makes port at Mon Calamari to undergo repairs and gather supplies. Also, because of its area of operations along the Perlemian Trade Route, the Task Force often visits the Roche Asteroids.
