Chitbatuuk was born to a common family in Kashyyyk in a small isolated town away from the bigger wookie communities and lived a happy childhood. Their small town of about ten families often ventured into the woods to hunt and provide for their families, and thus Chitbatuuk married his childhood sweetheart and continued the small town's peaceful and quiet way of life.
This should never suggest that the independent wookies were coward, joining the Wookie ranks during the Clone Wars and fighting bravely for their kind, risking their lives as much as all of the others. Chitbatuuk was a gunner in an Oevvaor Catamaran vehicle, decimating countless enemy droids and as soon as the war ended, he and his fellow townswookie returned home.
A few years later, Chitbatuuk had become the father of three wookie boys, which made him filled with pride and joy. Tragically however, while gone away in another one of the hunting expeditions away from the small town, space pirates raided the village and slaughtered the entire tribe's females, children and elderly, devastating the returning males that had found nothing but fire and ash where their entire lives used to be.
