During this period, Harriman's [[Jace Harriman (alternate)|brother]] rose to prominance as a leader in the enemy government, though intelligence is sketchy on how. On a mission to try and discern how this had happened, T.J. was captured, and a mutant removed his ability, later implanting it into his brother. The alternate reality twin of Tom Harriman, Major T.J. Harriman led a very different life to his counterpart. He was part of a force of troops sent by the British government to reinforce their allies in the United States after the Mutant Uprising of 2001, and became trapped behind enemy lines. When contact was lost with the United Kingdom, his unit was absorbed into the military organisation Vanguard.
Harriman possesses a mutated x-gene, and originally had the ability to telekinetically pull objects towards him. He was stripped of this ability by a powerful mutant however, and his ability was given to his brother, Psion. Despite losing his power, Tom continues to fight alongside Vanguard, commanding a covert strike team.
