== What are User Groups? ==
User Groups are a feature of [http://www.vbulletin.com vBulletin] that has been put to use by the staff of SW-Fans.Net. Its primary purpose is to assist in the organization of roleplaying information. These groups are also used to grant access to special Group Member’s ONLY forums (a.k.a. private forums), which are not accessible to anyone but members of that particular group. And finally, user groups also allow access to specialized group Post Icons.

== How do I join a User Group? ==

Joining any one of the User Groups at SW-Fans.Net is easy. First, open your User Control Panel. Scroll down the menu bar to the 'Miscellaneous' sub-heading and click 'Group Memberships'. The Group Membership page displays all of the User Groups that are open to join. Each User Group corresponds to a roleplaying faction or alignment, such as 'Roleplaying - The Jedi Enclave'. By clicking Join Group, an application is submitted on your behalf to that particular User Groups moderators. On submitting this application, you will be asked to provide a reason for wanting to join the group. Speak to the User Groups members and moderators, in their respective forums, before submitting your application.

== What are the benefits of joining User Groups? ==

One of the primary uses of User Groups is to allow members of the SW-Fans.Net Forums to distinguish which roleplaying faction they are part of. Many of the roleplaying factions at SW-Fans.Net have private forums which only their members may access, and by joining a particular factions User Group you will automatically gain access to these private forums. 

== Which User Groups should I join? ==

You should only join the User Groups applicable to your character. For instance, if you play Character A (a Jedi Knight) and Character B (an Imperial Pilot) you should join the Jedi User Group with Character A and the Imperial User Group with Character B.

* If you play a criminal/outlaw, you should apply to join the '''Roleplaying - Black Sun''' group.
* If you play a non-allied character, you should apply to join the '''Roleplaying - Independent''' group.
* If you play a member of the [[Kuklos Ataxia]] faction, you should apply to join the '''Roleplaying - Kuklos Ataxia''' group.
* If you play a member of [[the Galactic Empire]], you should apply to join the '''Roleplaying - The Galactic Empire''' group.
* If you play a member of [[the Jedi Enclave]], you should apply to join the '''Roleplaying - The Jedi Enclave''' group.
* If you play a member of [[The Sith Order]], you should apply to join the '''Roleplaying - The Sith Order''' group.

There are two additional User Groups, for those who roleplaying in the General Roleplaying forums. 

* If you play a character in the [[World of Darkness]] campaign, you should join the '''Roleplaying - World of Darkness''' group.
* If you play a character in the [[Mutants, Unite]] setting, you should join the '''Roleplaying - X-Men''' group.

== How do I know which User Groups I am a part of? ==

There are two ways to find out which User Group you have join. The first is to go to the Group Memberships section of your User Control Panel. Below the list of User Groups available to join you will find a list of those User Groups you have already elected to be a part of. You can also see which User Groups you, or any other user, are a part of by viewing their User Profile. 

==How do I leave a User Group? ==

You can leave any User Group that you have joined by accessing the Group Memberships section of your User Control Panel, selecting the User Group you wish to leave then clicking the 'Leave Group' button.
