Picked up Battlefield Bad Company 2: Vietnam DLC. The full BFBC2 package can be bought for $10. What a steal. It is considered the gold standard in multiplayer FPS right now.

Another terrific deal is Bioshock 2 at $5. (I should really finish the first game before getting the second though)

Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition is on sale today for $10, -66%.

That includes the expansion pack + all the DLC! That is a ridiculous amount of content for a small price.

Assassin's Creed II: Deluxe Edition is on sale for $6.79, -66%

It is much superior to the first game, from what I hear.

Announcing this, because the best deals were not on the frontpage of Steam today, so it's easy to miss.

Also, Fallout New Vegas is in Bestbuy stores today and tomorrow for $10, and is a Steamworks title (can be activated on Steam with the CD key), so that is a good deal if you have Bestbuy store nearby to pick it up (or someone else to pick it up for you).

Amazingly, I have not either. Already have Shadow of Chernobyl, and should play through that before jumping on Call of Pripyat. Also have COD4, Secret of Monkey Island, Monkey Island 2 (all of which I greatly enjoyed) and Deus Ex. Civilization V is desirable, but 50% discount at 25 euro does not cut it, sorry, I have my principles. Expecting a better deal for Civ V at Christmas.

I cannot recommend the Stalker games enough. I'll admit they're not perfect, the game engines can be a bit unstable. But for pure immersion and enjoyment they're exemplary. And with a whole host of extremely good mods to try that only enhance the experience, the current prices are superb!

The Command and Conquer and Quake franchise sales are good. I highly recommend C&C3 - very gritty-looking and fun RTS. Kane's Wrath expansion adds a cool conquest mode where you take over territories step by step. Red Alert 3 is also quite good but not as good as C&C3 and nowhere near as good as Red Alert 1 or 2. I have C&C4 but not played it yet - though I hear it's a bit disappointing as a follow-up to C&C3.

Quake is a classic and I especially love Quake 3: Arena (though if you ask me, the best frag-em-up of all time for me has to be Unreal Tournament - the original, not 2003, 2004 or UT3)!

At £4.99 I high recommend Mafia 2 - very nice looking game and I think the city is just the right size. I love how the look and feel of the game changes with the storyline as it's set during different years. Starting in the 1940's during WWII it's winter and you feel the desperation. Then after that it changes to the 50's and it's summer, clothes and cars look different, the radio plays different tunes - it's a lot of fun. Plus using the cover system in a firefight with a tommy gun rocks!

I picked up Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 Deluxe Edition. Looking forward to sinking my teeth into that at some point.

I also recommend Fallout 3: GOTY Edition - that's an immense amount of content for just £6.79; I'm sure Droo will concur.

Amnesia: £3.24 - fantastic gaming experience. Fresh underwear must be supplied by yourself though.

Brian and I just played through Puzzle Agent 2 together. Well, not together. It's not co-op, but we were playing at the same time. I played Puzzle Agent 1 beforehand enjoyed both of them. Short but sweet with challenging puzzles, although at times we did feel that the instructions for the puzzles weren't as clear as they could have been.

I don't think it's only Daily Deal but it's very cheap anyway.

Probably Star Wars: Empire at War. Specifically the Forces of Corruption expansion for it. Rebels vs Empire vs Consortium. The Empire is veyr OP though! Darth Vader on land can almost solo the entire battle. Darth Vader in space = Executor which guarantee's solo victory.

Trapped Dead is currently on a launch week special. I'm thinking of getting it. Online 3rd person zombie survival co-op anyone?

(Meta-critic score 55/100. Not high enough for an impulse buy methinks)

FYI, E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy- the setting is incredible. There's a lot to take in regarding mechanics like psi powers etc and I found the tutorial videos were quite poor. I haven't played it enough yet to form an opinion but so far I like what I see despite this.

Terraria (http://store.steampowered.com/app/105600/) is currently on offer on Steam at 50% off.

I honestly thought nothing of it until I saw a video on Youtube. I bought it straight away. Think 2D Minecraft with more RPG elements and a lot more enemies and diversity, as well as NPC's who can move into homes you build providing furniture is provided. There's even advanced water physics (2D gaming makes things so much easier to code I guess). I came across two pools of water, one above the other on a hill. I dug away the dirst holding the upper pool back and it all flowed down and filled up the lower pool.

It's also co-op so if anybody liked the look of Minecraft but were put off by the limited enemies/combat or lack of RPG mechanics, this feels like a more rounded package and may entice you. For £3 it's a fantastic bargain even if it is 2D.

After looking at an actual world map, I think I may be near Mongolia in my game. That sucks. You'd think as the American's I'd at least start in North America. Come to think of it, the first game I started and quit looked like I was at the southern-most tip of Chile/Argentina. I may start again until I'm where I want to be.

Just a few personal recommendations from the current sale:

Terraria (http://store.steampowered.com/app/105600/)

This is basically 2D Minecraft combined with RPG and the often dubbed "Metroidvania" platforming style. You can chop down treets for wood and dig out the earth for assorted dirt, stone and various ores and gems. The amount of different things you can craft are insane. It's a very charming and surprisingly deep game despite its looks. There's various biomes that spawn different monsters you can actively farm for certain loot, and there's also a trio of boss monsters you can tackle for big rewards and top-tier crafting materials. Also, rooms you build will attract NPC's such as the nurse (heals you for a fee), Merchant (seels some items), Arms Dealer (sells guns and ammo), Demolitionist (sells explosives) and Dryad (sells some unique alchemical reagents).

The game has really nice 2D water physics which can cause true flooding unlike Minecrafts limited-distance flowing water. You can develop your character RPG-style by finding Crystal Hearts underground which increases your health, as well as collect Fallen Stars which drop form the sky at night and can be combined to make a Mana Crystal which adds 20 to your maximum mana, starting form zero. Mana can be used by some weapons as ammo/power. There's a number of craftable and lootable weapons from swords of varying material and strength ranging from wood, stone, iron, silve,r gold and eventually shadow ore, tools of similar quality such as picks, axes and hammers, and an assortment of ranges weaponry like pistols, muskets, bow and arrows (flaming and holy arrows!), even a mana-powered ray gun. And also, a numbe rof different armour sets similar to the weapon and tool types.

There's also random events included. Meteor's can crsh to the ground at night. Find a crater and you'll encounter unique enemies as well as a big load of meteorite ore to mine. And there's the potential for a goblin invasion where you're attacked by dozens of goblins at once.

The enemies range from jumping balls of slime during the day to zombies and flying demon eyes at night, the jungle is inhabited by bats, killer plants and goblins. The desert plays host to antlions and vultures, there's sharks in the sea, piranhas in lakes, and that's all before you venture underground for those rare ores and gems. Skeletons, giant worms, devourers, bone serpents, imps, demons and bats. There's an area called The Corruption, a sinister dark biome full of damaging thorns, deep deadly chasms and the horrid Eater of Souls along with its smaller and larger cousins, they all fly and come in swarms. Build high enough and you'll come across floating islands with silver temples containing golden chests of treasure, but they're guarded by nasty flying harpies. And then there's the Dungeon - a castle on the surface that descends deep into the bowels of the world, inhabited by unique monsters such as skeletal mages, but you have to defeat the guard before you can venture down.

And like Minecraft, each world is randomly generated. But they're not ongoing like Minecraft - each world is a fixed size which you can choose when you create it. So if you find yourself hard-pressed for a certain resource, just make another world and load up. Each character is made independent of each world so you can play any of your created worlds with any of your created characters. And you can even play multiplayer with friends or foes in your worlds. Some people play co-op, braving the underworld together, while some build PVP arena worlds and colour code their bases with flags and building materials.

Seriously, check out Youtube and see what you think. For such a low price of £3, if you only play for an evening you've got your money's worth - you spend more in McDonalds!

I love this game. It's rewarding, challenging and very charming.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Bundle (http://store.steampowered.com/sub/5011/)

One of my all-time favourite games. Before Fallout 3, there was Stalker. While Fallout 3 and New Vegas really own when it comes to open wasteland post-nuclear world exploration, Stalker wins on the atmoisphere and setting for me. A first-person-shooter with some RPG elements in terms of armour and weapon upgrades, the setting of Stalker is the Zone of Exclusion surrounding the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. This creepy, lonely, and at times beautiful (sunrise/sunsets are amazing!) open landscape is brilliant. Various mercenaries, loners, bandits and scientists populate the camps, disused factories and abandoned labs in search of knowledge and fortune. Knowledge from studying the strange physics of the zone with its anomalies and artifacts, and fortune in the profit to be gained from selling such artifacts.

But rivalling human factions and military units aren't the only thing you have to worry about. The Zone's effect on nature is horrific; zombies that are the result of humans being caught in a blowout and having their brains fried, packs of blind dogs, invisible bloodsuckers, once-human snorks who are now feral monsters who pounce form the shadows, and several other mutated fiends that you will come across. And with a very strong modding community, there's a number of ways to make a great game even better, and I cannot recommend the "Stalker: Complete" series of mods highly enough.

Aside from the main plot along with its various missions, there's a quest system that allows you to carry out virtually unlimited missions, but this isn't game-breaking since there's no RPG levelling system and your rewards are in the form of weapons, ammo and other gear and supplies.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines (http://store.steampowered.com/app/2600/)

One of the first games along eith half Life 2 to use the Source Engine, Vampire is a really, really good FPS/RPG hybrid. While the guns themselves feel underpowered against the creatures of the night, the game itself is awesome. You play a newly-turned kindred sent to Santa Monica by the newly-appointed Camarilla Prince of Los Angeles. Here, you meet an assortment of mortal and immortal characters who have jobs for you. You level up and spend points in attributes, skills and disciplines.

Aside from combat-oriented spending for things like Strength, Melee, Brawl, Firearms and offensive disciplines, you have things like the Computers skill which lets you hack PC's to read characters emails for quest-related clues and objectives, Security which allows you to pick locks, and a couple of influencing skills that come in handy in conversations with NPC's. Not only do you have normal various dialogue options, but depending on your skill levels you can use the art of seduction, persuasion, intimidation and the discipline Dominate to steer conversations the way you want.

The missions are fun and varied, the locations you visit in LA are great (Santa Monica, Downtown, Chinatown and Hollywood), the story is good and there's some awesome set-pieces and quest-specific locations like a creepy abandoned coastal hotel that echoes The Shining. The NPC's are a lot of fun and their voice-acting is brilliant. I love Knox!

Those three personal recommendations will set you back £12.48 and give many mny hours of varied gameplay. I've clocked over 100 hours on the first Stalker game alone, and Terraria has taken around 50 hours to get to where I am in it now with a sweet base full of NPC's and some great armour and weapons with lots more still to do. And Terraria is constantly updated, like Minecraft.

Good Old Games have got their own Hallowe'en sale on at the moment.

My recommendation:

Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption (http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/vampire_the_masquerade_redemption)

A 3D roleplaying game that puts you in the shoes of Christoph - a soldier of God in the Crusades who's injuries force him to stay in Prague when his unit moves on while he recovers. As you regain your strength you investigate the abandoned silver mines in search of why the miners fled- a vampire and his ghoulish minions dwell deep in the mines. This is the start of an adventure that wll progress to your embrace into the Brujah clan of vampires beneath Prague, copntinue on as you explore various catacombs, crypts and strongholds while encountering various vampire sof other clans until the game transitions into London 1999 (I think!) where you meet the Society of Leopold (hunters of things that go bump in the night) as well as the new cultures and world of the Modern Nights.

Similar in gameplay style to the classic Bioware RPG's like Baldur's Gate in that you switch between characters in combat for specific commands but largely your companions are automated and will use vampiric disciplines as they see fit - similar to KOTOR which came after it. The story is interesting but what I enjoy the most is the amount of "World of Darkness" that's on display here - the clans and the backstory have a lot of presence, with the majority of the clans included. And there's a mod available that adds a huge amount of extra content from additional clans to the ability to play as a werewolf or even a faerie (World of Darkness faeries are NOT your traditional Tinkerbell).

If there are people around who still haven't played those games, they don't deserve a PC. They've been on offer so many times now, it's as if they're supposed to be that cheap. Come on people! Get playing!
By quickly sampling the members in the SW-fans steam group, who have a public profile and active gamers, no less than 7 had neither of those in their steam library. :p

The Deadspace games are also on sale for cheap btw.

Personally, I have a huge backlog of games I still need to play, so I will probably not buy anything this round.

I don't own Bioshock on Steam because I bought actual physical copies of the game, including the collectors edition of Bioshock 2 :)

VtM: Bloodlines is awesome. Definitely buy that if you don't have it already.

While New Vegas is more recent, don't forget about the awesome Fallout 3!

The Game of the Year edition (http://store.steampowered.com/app/22300/)is currently cheaper than the total cost of Fallout: New Vegas and all it's DLC.

Signed!

Deus Ex: Humen Revolution is a fantastic game that I still haven't finished. If you liked the original but were disappointed by Invisible War then play this game which is the follow-up we should have gotten in the first place.

There is a deal/competition on Steam at the moment (seems like an advent thing). Every day there is a draw, and ten winners will recieve ten of the games on their wishlist.

All you need to do is have ten (or more) games on your wishlist, and then visit the page for the Daily Wishlist Giveaway. You're automatically entered just by visiting the page; there are also some sweet daily deals as a result, like the current "Terraria for £1.50" one.

Everything I'd want, I already have. Fable 3 tempted me, but I haven't finished Fable 2 yet. Lets see what 6pm brings...

No idea if they do this every year, but Steam has [what looks like a] fun Christmas competition give-away thing. You do certain objectives in certain games, and you win a prize.

The first objective at the moment is to check your Steam inventory... I just found a 25% of Valve games voucher to use next year. :3
