Aka. the "Fighting Fifth".
1st Regiment - Space Operations
Referred to unofficially as SpaceOps or Marines, the SpecForce Troopers of 1st Regiment specialise in combat in zero- and low-gravity environments, as well as in boarding operations and close-quarters combat aboard spacecraft. In Division 5, they are commanded by Colonel Regulus Starborn.
Taskforce Company Wesk, as well as Xesh, Yirt, and Enth all actively serve with the Regiment. Taskforce Unit Besh is also part of this Regiment, but operates as part of the combined Special Reconnaissance Regiment.
2nd Regiment - Pathfinders
Taskforce Unit Aurek was originally part of this Regiment, but now operates with the Special Reconnaissance Regiment.
3rd Regiment - Urban Combat Specialists
Known as the Urban Guerrillas, these SpecForce Troopers were trained for combat within urban areas; and in covert, ambush tactics that would allow them to combat entire Imperial garrisons with relatively few soldiers.
4th Regiment - Wilderness Fighters
Known as Rangers, or sometimes as WildOps (a portmandeau of "Wilderness Operations"), these SpecForce Troopers were trained for combat in extreme conditions, learning to use their environment to their advantage in combat. Companies specialise for certain terrain types, such as the cold conditions on Hoth, the forest environment of Endor, desert planets like Tatooine, or aquatic worlds like Mon Calamari or Kamino.
5th Regiment - Infiltrators
The Infiltrators are widely considered to be among the elite of Alliance forces, trained for covert insertion into Imperial facilities for sabotage and espionage, as well as rescues, abductions, and assassinations. Their missions were often classified as Black Ops: beyond merely covert, and with little hope of back-up or rescue should the mission go wrong.
Taskforce Unit Cresh was part of this regiment prior to its destruction. It has since been placed on "honourary deployment" with the Special Reconnaissance Regiment. It's only surviving member, Charlotte Tur'enne, serves with Dorn Force.
6th Regiment - Heavy Weapon Specialists ("Gunners")
7th Regiment - Technicians
8th Regiment - Special Reconnaissance Regiment
A prototype, experimental unit intended to bridge the gap between SpecForce and SpecOps. The Special Reconnaissance Regiment (SRR) is commanded by Colonel Sogan Dalgas, and consists of units and personnel drawn from other Regiments within the Fighting Fifth.
Currently, the Regiment features Taskforce Unit Aurek from the 2nd Regiment, and Taskforce Unit Besh from the 1st Regiment; as well as Dorn Force, which consists of personnel drawn from various fields, and emulates a SpecOps Mission Group. The destroyed Taskforce Unit Cresh is also nominally assigned to the Regiment, as a "honourary deployment" to prevent its name being recycled.
