Hi everyone!

So here's what I'd like to call "the dealio".

My RPing has really dropped off. This is in large part because my RPing partners for my main characters have vanished or not posted. Real life > RP as we all know, but I have a really hard time maintaining interest and a creative flow if my characters aren't going anywhere. DragonCon definitely awakened the urge, but I've had no place to apply the motivation, and no ideas waiting in the back of my head to pull out and put into play.

In an odd twist of fate, I've been asked a couple of times recently if I would like to take over/play a character created by someone else. I am always reluctant to do this, partly because my mains aren't going anywhere, because playing any character involves a certain degree of "making them my own", and also because my ultimate vision for the character may not coincide with their creator's. The biggest reason, however, is that the character really is not my brainchild, lovingly crafted from the labs of my imagination. It is much harder to motivate myself to play even a bit part as someone else than it is my own characters. To this point, I have unilaterally rejected the recent requests to play other people's characters, primarily for these reasons.

So I am at a quandry.

In an effort to resolve this problem of posting, I offer forth the following solution.

First, I would like to use this post to advertise my mains. I only consider myself as having two real mains (Redik and Hobgoblin), but I've come to realize how much I love writing Pierce Tondry and would be willing to write for him again and even bring him into the current RP timeline somehow provided I had creative leeway with what the character can and can't do, Force-power wise. I understand that I have technically transferred the character's "rank" to my Redik character and I genuinely have no wish to undo that. However, if people were interested in RPing with him and the board as a whole were willing to maybe grant him some Padawan-level ability without an entirely RPed backstory for it, I could see myself dusting off the old Tondry suit.

Second, and perhaps more important, I am willing to reconsider playing other people's characters (I'll call them loaned suits) in an attempt to reclaim some motivation and creativity. If you have a suit to loan and are genuinely interested in having me wear it, either PM me with some details or contact me on AIM to discuss what's what. Bear in mind, I'm going to want to know the following details:

1) Name and backstory
2) Planned role
3) Leeway I have in interpreting the character
4) Who the character would primarily interact with
5) Whether you can accommodate a relaxed posting schedule for the next two to three months.

The last item is key. In addition to having plans in ye olde real worlde, my job is going to kick into high gear for the next two months due to a special program we are running. I have already committed to working 8:30 am to 8:00 pm Monday through Thursday and may be working beyond that on an as-needed basis, which means my free time is going to be nil during the week.

So there you have it. If you would like information on any of my characters because you think they may fit with an RP plot of yours, please feel free to post, PM, IM, or what have you. If this plan works out, my goal is to resurrect everything that was going on, including the suits already loaned to me that are gathering mothballs.
