Personally, I hear this... but I think we all know that my brain is malfunctional.
It's like that, and that's the way it is.
Been reading the rule book / etc, and had some thoughts on what might be useful skill / perk / level up wise for our next adventure.
- We know that we need to find and kill (or at least de-tooth) a sea serpent. Folklore, Religious Lore, and Zoology may be useful for clues, weaknesses, migratory patterns, etc.
- Snakes and sea creatures are often venomous. Does anyone have Cure Poison? Does anyone have Alchemy to a) identify poisons/etc, and b) make poisons/etc for us to coat our blades / arrowheads / etc with?
- It sounds like Sea Serpents crush ships, boa constrictor style. Our ship is pretty small though: that means melee people will probably need athletics and/or body control to climb up / stay on the beast, especially since what we're after is in it's face.
- If you fall in the water, armour and shields may be problematic. It might be smart to go naked and rely on parry/dodge/etc.
- There is a "Fight in Water" perk (on page 5), which may or may not be helpful.
Some other things to consider...
Peter has been itching to do a sea battle. That doesn't mean there will be a sea battle, but there might be. It may be smart for us to try and find that "very strong log" we need to get our giant crossbow working before we set sail. If we kind find such a log naturally... perhaps we can make one, using blacksmithing (or magic?) to reinforce an ordinary bit of wood? We're still very close to Vellusa, where those dwarven master craftsmen were hanging out: maybe
The prophecy says we need to "procure" a ripper tooth; not that we necessarily need to hunt down and slay a sea serpent to get it. Perhaps there's a way to Indiana Jones a ripper tooth - find an intact one as an artefact that someone else has retrieved - rather than trying to Captain Ahab it? It might be smart for us to visit a temple of Efferd, just in case there's some legend or what have you.
