Imperial - Closed Hot takes in a cold war (R.S. Esalis)

She could feel the cool of the wall on her shoulder as she leaned just outside the Director's office, the slightest chill prickling her skin as she crossed her arms and waited to be called inside. It had been a few weeks since she had first arrived, delivered here by Knight Iscandar and Cadet Khoovi Wan from her homeworld of Devaron, and she had began to settle in. Lora had expected many things when she had joined the Empire, discipline, structure and to finally be a part of the greatest organization in the galaxy.

She was finally doing what she was meant to be doing, so why was she waiting like a scolded child? Like when her mother would send her to her room to wait for her father's return home. An hour ago she had been going through drills with her fellow cadets, most younger than herself - having not been held back by a parent who seemed far too comfortable pulling against the Empire's supportive hold - and had taken her pad out between instructions to check her holonet feeds. She was mid update when the device had been snatched from her hand by the Knight instructor.

There was a time and a place for everything, she knew, but it had all been so exciting so far, and she barely seemed to find time to update her followers. They were waiting for her LazerLora lore. Plus she would never not enjoy putting that rebbiescum LeiaLover11 in their place. People like that shouldn't be allowed to use the Emperor's holonet. Her pad hadn't even been returned after the drills were finished, instead she had been ordered to Director Esalis' office, and she couldn't shake the stone in the pit of her stomach. Her left one, to be exact. The right one felt like a fluttering horde of flewts had taken nest in it.

She didn't know nearly as much about Director Esalis as she did other members of the Empire, she wasn't certain she'd ever even managed to find a copy of her trading flimsi back when she was collecting them. Considering she headed Imperial Intelligence and she'd been sent here after having her personal datapad confiscated, she did not have high hopes that this was going to be a pleasant meeting.

The office of Director Esalis was a sparse, minimalist space that offered little insight into the woman who spent most of her time within its walls.

Aside from a few pieces of art, there was her desk - a brutal, glossy black behemoth in its own right. Two chairs in front of it, and her own behind it. Two pedestals were along one wall, and two more on the opposite wall; each one with sculptures set atop them. Behind her was a floor-to-ceiling window that offered a stunning view of the Coruscant skyline beyond.

Sitting comfortably at her desk, the Director found herself curiously puzzled by her reading. The datapad she currently held documented the infractions of a particular Imperial Knight hopeful. Untouched, was that student's own personal 'pad. It was a strange situation, and one that Esalis found herself hoping to correct. Young ones and their interest in the 'net, and the communities that they cultivate on it; the followings, the feeds, the strange sort of influence that some held over others... it was always interesting to see.

But, when one who planned to be a Knight of the Empire dabbled in sharing information whether it be sensitive or not... that was when it became her problem.

Knight General Atrapes might take issue with the flexing of governmental muscle that Imperial Intelligence had showed, but for the moment Esalis cared very little about what he thought.

Information was a commodoty, and sharing such precious things could be dangerous.

Finally, she set her datapad down and gently pressed a fingertip to one of the nearly-invisible buttons set into the surface of her desk.

    "Show her in."

Lora had closed her eyes, thinking over just what to say or how to present herself to the director when a cough broke her thoughts. The Director's assistant... secretary? Whomever, the Agent that had told her to wait originally, was standing in front of her motioning her to follow, "She'll see you now." came the tart reply as Lora pushed off from the wall and followed into the Intelligence head's office, which was as sterile as she could imagine.

She snapped to attention as the agent exited behind her. "Cadet Hav'vrun reporting as ordered, ma'am." She swallowed hard and tried to keep her eyes focused ahead.

If nothing else, the Knights instilled in their recruits the need for proper protocol; at least - in Cadet Hav'vrun's case, to her face.

The confiscated datapad, which rested on her desk, was slowly taken up as she gestured with her free hand to one of the two empty chairs in front of her desk.

    "Please, sit, Cadet."

Lora pulled out a chair, just as utilitarian as the rest of the room with a hard metal frame and the kind of curve designed to prevent comfort, and sat down across from the Director, eyes darting at the familiar pad in the Director's hand as she did so. Should she talk? No, that wasn't protocol. She should wait for her superior to address her.

She cleared her throat in a low cough in the back of her throat as she waited, her time on her datapad was outside of normal procedure, she knew, but hadn't expected it to be a big enough deal to warrant this conversation. She was, after all, merely taking the Empire's social media critics to task for their disloyalty and treason.
