A rumbled laugh as he gave a sideways glance to her, only halfway supervising her actions of depositing the greens into the pot.

"They may smell like that now, but you just wait."

A swift step to the side, and he opened the door to the oven. A quick reach in with his hand protected by a dishrag, and Krale pulled out a cast beskar pan full of sizzling squares of shaak fat. They were like angry, spitting cube-demons swimming in equally angry spitting-juices. A leg immediately closed the oven door, and he set the pan on the countertop. A gesture to a drawer, and he further instructed his newfound sous chef.

"Go in that drawer there, and pull out a serving spoon. When you've got all the loccards into the pot, put in the salt-shaak."

The rising heat in the kitchen was rendering her wrapping obsolete, so Rai unwrapped the blankets from around her, setting them over the back of a chair, then following up again to wash her hands once more. The bulky winter greens were pressed into the pot, and she then followed that by scooping out the salt-shaak. That at least smelled appetizing, until she caught the overriding smell of salt that warned her off taking a sample of one of the piping-hot sputtering cubes.

"Fuck!" A sputtering stream of grease from one of the fatty cubes spit at her as she turned it, hitting the soft skin on the inside of her wrist, causing the spoon to clatter into the beskar skillet. Rai immediately withdrew her scalded hand, shaking it and sucking at the pink, raised circle of offended flesh to ease the sensation of grease burn.

With her first spoon half-sunk into the hot fat, the heiress begrudingly returned to the drawer to grab another one.

    "Language, Rai'fa!"

Samus straightened up from his task of placing the silverware, his head craning to the side to look into the kitchen proper. Seeing Rai'faani grabbing another spoon from a drawer, he waggled a fork in her direction.

"We're respectable folk here, you know."

Words spoken with a wry smile, knowing she would more than likely scoff at him.

Rai blinked a few times, looking back with an expression that might have appeared blank were it not for a pointed ear flick.

"What betterr tjime for the F-worrd than a fjirrsst degrree burrn? Ssame letterr, ssame enerrgjy."

Retrieving a clean spoon, Rai returned briskly to the task at hand. The sooner she was away from this fire hazard, the better her chances at escaping dinner with her skin intact.

Krale made sure to position himself between the two in order to return Rai'faani's attention to him and his instructions.

"Once you get all the shaak into the pot, take that big spoon over there and stir everything together."

His voice was gravely, but encouraging at the same time as he opened up a second oven. With a dishrag to protect his hand from the heat, he pulled out a low pan with more sizzling strips of shaak. This he set on the counter a bit further to the side, and immediately turned about to grab the small shaker of home-mixed spices that he'd set aside just for this moment. The clear jar held a blend of Anteevian salt, pepper, Ithorian green herbs, Kolo Claw Fish powder, and a few other secret ingredients that he would go to the grave with.

Delicately, in a series of movements that seemed strange from such a mountain of a being, he deftly sprinkled the shaak with his concoction.

And as an afterthought, one of his hands reached back to give a pat to Rai'faani's shoulder, and he offered a rare few words of encouragement.

"You're doing a fine job, Little Claw."
