Movies Star Wars 7 - RUMORS

There's a rumor going around that the title to episode 7 is "A New Dawn", which sounds nice but is also really close to A New Hope. I can't believe that it's true.

(Hopefully it isn't as weird as The Phantom Menace or Quantum of Solace.)

oh what a tangled web I weave

Here's the roles they are casting for (listed in June)

Young twenty-something male, witty and smart, fit but not traditionally good looking.

A late twenty-something male, fit, handsome and confident.

Late-teen female, independent, good sense of humour, fit.

A second young female, also late teens, tough, smart and fit.

    Forty-something male, fit, military type.

Thirty-something male, intellectual. Apparently doesn’t need to be fit.

Seventy-something male, with strong opinions and tough demeanour. Also doesn’t need to be particularly fit.
I was going to post casting rumors as well, but as Saoirse Ronan stated, just about everyone in the business has been auditioned for roles in this film. Nothing has been confirmed yet!

Casting for two major roles is underway in the UK. There is a lot of information on these two characters, though who knows about the names.

Casting directors are seeking a "street smart and strong" orphaned girl in her late teens and a "smart capable" man in his late teens or early 20s.

    ...

For the female role, a character named "Rachel", producers are seeking a 17-18-year-old who must be "beautiful, smart and athletic". The part is "open to all ethnicities (including bi and multi-racial). The actor must be over 16 years old.

Rachel is described as being "quite young when she lost her parents", and has "no other family". The casting note adds: "She was forced to make her way in a tough, dangerous town. Now 17, she has become street-smart and strong. She is able to take care of herself using humour and guts to get by.

"Always a survivor, never a victim, she remains hopeful that she can move away from this harsh existence to a better life. She is always thinking of what she can do to move ahead."

For the male role, named "Thomas", producers seek a young man able to play 19-23 years old. They must be "handsome, smart and athletic" as well as at least 18 years old.

"Thomas has grown up without a father's influence, without the model of being a man," reads the casting call. "He doesn't have the strongest sense of himself. Despite this he is smart, capable and shows courage when it is needed. He can appreciate the absurdities in life and understands you can't take life too seriously."
The authenticity of the casting call hasn't been confirmed by Lucasfilm but it is similar enough to previous casting calls that it seems legit.

    Also, we've had a change of screenwriter/s
As Episode VII continues pre-production, Lawrence Kasdan and director J.J. Abrams have assumed screenwriting duties for the film. Kasdan, who has been serving as a consultant on the film, is a veteran of several classic Lucasfilm productions, writing the screenplay for Raiders of the Lost Ark and serving as co-screenwriter for The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Acclaimed director and screenwriter Abrams' credits include Super 8, Mission: Impossible III, Fringe, and Lost.

"I am very excited about the story we have in place and thrilled to have Larry and J.J. working on the script," states Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy. "There are very few people who fundamentally understand the way a Star Wars story works like Larry, and it is nothing short of incredible to have him even more deeply involved in its return to the big screen. J.J. of course is an incredible storyteller in his own right. Michael Arndt has done a terrific job bringing us to this point and we have an amazing filmmaking and design team in place already prepping for production."

Location scouting, production design, casting, and costume design are already underway on Episode VII. A team of gifted artists are working to bring the latest installment of the Star Wars saga, including director of photography Dan Mindel (Mission: Impossible III, Star Trek, Star Trek Into Darkness), production designers Rick Carter (Lincoln, Avatar, Forrest Gump) and Darren Gilford (Oblivion, TRON: Legacy), costume designer Michael Kaplan (Star Trek Into Darkness, Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, Fight Club),special effects supervisor Chris Corbould (Skyfall, The Dark Knight Rises, Inception), sound designer Ben Burtt (Lincoln, Wall-E, Star Wars: Episodes I-VI), re-recording mixer Gary Rydstrom (Jurassic Park, Saving Private Ryan, Toy Story, Mission: Impossible -Ghost Protocol), supervising sound editor Matthew Wood (Star Trek Into Darkness, The Master, There Will Be Blood) of Skywalker Sound, and visual effects supervisor Roger Guyett (Star Trek Into Darkness, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith) of Industrial Light & Magic. Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing, with Tommy Harper (Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, Jack Ryan, Star Trek Into Darkness) and Jason McGatlin (Tintin, War of the Worlds) serving as executive producers. John Williams is returning to score Star Wars: Episode VII.
