Power Of The Jedi will rule the 2nd Half of 2000!!
This place has been quite for too long!!
As most of you know, the Episode 1 and POTF2 lines will be merging into a new line in late August/early September; POTJ (Power of the Jedi). This is the shot in the arm Star Wars toys have desperately needed since late 1999. A clean start and new product that retailers will WANT to order. Here's a list of new figures that we'll be seeing in the second half of the year. I've put this together from several sources and most of them should be accurate.

This is a lot to take in so I'll probably post a follow up with just the figures and the month their due to start shipping. I thought this view might be helpful to help some of you spot short packed figures. The second half of this year looks great. It reminds of POTF2 in 96-98 when we'd get 20-35 figs a year! Let the good times roll!

LOL Bro!
I'm looking forward to:
Mass Ameda(He is the blue guy from the Senate and he looks awesome)
Tusken Raider (You can never have enough Sandpeople!)
Coruscant Guard (This is a beautiful figue and I'll probably buy at least 2 or 3)
Chewbacca POTF (This one's going in the Falcon.)
Jek Porkins (Every squadron needs a Fat Guy!)
Dabgobah Vader (This will end up being the 2nd best Vader ever! Removable Helmet tops the list of course.)
Leia Military Dress (As long as the face continues to look decent this should be a winner)
Han Solo Bespin (A non buff Bespin Han?! Sign me up!)
Biker Scouts (A carded bider scout that includes an ankle holster! Let the army building commence!!)
Colonel Calamari (I prefer butter, lots of butter....)
K-3PO (You can never have enough droids)
Figures I'm NOT lokking forward to:
Obi-Wan rehash #367
Anakin rehash #232
Maul rehash #7,879
Qui-Gon rehash #5,324
Temple Boss Nass (the first one was good enough)
Gungan Warrior (Great army builder for some, just not for me)

Re: Figures I'm Looking Forward To
Dagobah Vader is also supposed to be molded in translucent plastic to give him a "ghost" effect! I've heard rumors that the head is suppose to come off. That would make the figure complete!

Re: Figures I'm Looking Forward To
I'm looking forward to the Biker Scout, Royal Senate Guard, Sandpeople and Dagabah Vader.
Of course in October Hasbro is re-releasing some repainted 3 3/4" G.I.Joe figures(five 2 packs) along with some various vehicles. Early pictures on these look great and hopefully if they do well enough the line will relaunch. So I already know where my toy money is going this fall!
Yo Joe!!

I've heard that Generation I Transformers are on their way as well. Long live the toys of the 80s!

Re: Figures I'm Looking Forward To
I think I had a grand total of two(2) transformers growing up. They were my favorite series. Time to make up for my wasted childhood!
Know why they can't have Transformers based on cars of today? 'Cause who'd be afraid of a Golf, Beetle, and Sidekick? Modern cars are wimpy!
At first I thought Jek Porkins would be a stupid figure, but now that they've made virtually every alien to appear on and off screen, I guess it's about time Porkins (who actually had a few lines) gets a figure.

Re: Figures I'm Looking Forward To
He was such a...dink. I really can't think of a better way to describe this guy. "Pull up!" "No, I'm all right, I-*CRASH!*"
Everyone else has a fairly average build and looks like they know what they're doing, and he's this large guy in desperate need of a shave and he looks like they kidnapped him from a sci-fi convention, threw him in an X-Wing, and told him to act like he knew what he was doing.

Re: Figures I'm Looking Forward To
I met Garrick Hagon (Biggs)at a convention, and he said that's pretty much how it went, except for pulling the person from a sci-fi convention! I guess the rebellion was an equal opportunity employer, can't fault them for that!
they could have given him a razor though...

Re: Figures I'm Looking Forward To
Yes, a shave would definitely have helped I think that stubble all down his chin(s) and neck is what made him look so dumb.

Re: Figures I'm Looking Forward To
Oy... more fat people jokes at Porkins expense Anyhoo... the cards look dumb, and so is the name (Power of the Jedi?!) but I'll still collect them.
And the good ole Transformers are coming back!? TOO SWEET! I remember those from 6 and 7 years old! I'll have to get some!

Re: Figures I'm Looking Forward To
Porkins rules!! I'm thinking of getting him his own X-Wing and customizing it for him. You know, some barbeque sauce stains on the sides of the ship. A half eaten sandwich and an empty bag of potato chips for the @#%$pit. And maybe a some kind of drink holder to fit a Big Gulp in it. There's a rebel every couch potato can be proud of!
Transformers:
The August issue of Toyfare hints that we may see GI Optimus Prime by the end of the year. That would be the only one I'd consider getting. But I know Transformer fans have been clamoring for this for years now.

Re: Figures I'm Looking Forward To
Hell TF fans had a shot at a number of Original Transformers back in 1992-1994(don't remember exactly)with Generation 2 but that line eventually went belly up until Beast Wars hit it big. I think it'll be cool if they do release some, I'll probably buy some, if anything else it'll be cheaper than buying Vintage G1 figures.
I think if they do the G.I.Joe figures well and possibly release a few additional figures during the Christmas season then they could do really well. One nice thing is the prices, you get a 2 figure pack for $7.99. Nothing against SW figures(cause I've got a ton of them) but they're overpriced for what you get. G.I.joes figures are loaded with articulation and come with numerous accessories. SWFigs are starting to get better articulated, but then you have figures like Emporer or Royal Guard who are basiclaly a big hunk of plastic with moving arms. A few more accessories per figure would be cool(backpacks, sabers, pistols, etc) and it would be nice if they dropped the figures down to $5 a pop, $6 a pop is still better than the $7 they were getting for Com-Tech ones but still a big high in my opinion.

Re: Figures I'm Looking Forward To
I remember those "Generation 2" transformers. If I remember right Optimus had a black trailer and they gave him lights and sounds and some dumb weapons.
$5 is definitely the ideal price. I nearly stopped collecting when the Commtech figures were retailing for $10 each.
Instead of just trying to bring back and copy the old toys from the 80's like GI Joe and Transformers, I wish they'd get a clue and make toys today with the same quality and play value.

Re: Figures I'm Looking Forward To
I think in G.I.Joes case they're gonna try the market out with these repaints of 10 figures and 3 vehicles. I know hte prices on them are good and they're still great figures. I'm hoping they'll do well and start making new ones.
