We're still a way off from series seven, but since the reveal of the Doctor's new companion, I figure we might as well have a series seven thread!

Our new companion will apparently be appearing for the first time in the 6th episode of series seven, which is apparently going to be 2012s Christmas episode.

I was going to make a comment about how (like The Doctor himself) the companions seem to be getting younger and younger - but no, turns out Ms. Coleman is actually older (by over 18 months) than Karen Gillam.

It'd actually be kinda cool if they paired the Doctor with a companion who wasn't from now. I get that they're meant to provide the relatable audience aspect, but now the relaunched series is fairly established they could maybe get away with a girl from the seventies or whatever. Bring her to now and have some "The future isn't the way I expected it to be", or something like that.
If nothing else, she'll certainly match up with the quirky fashions of Mr Bow Tie & Tweed!
She looks like a Blue Peter presenter. I don't know why I think that, but it just seems right to me.

So when is the official start date in the UK? I think we'll get it on BBC America pretty quickly afterwards.
We don't actually know yet. We have been told autumn time but I think the first episode is being shown at some film festival in Scotland in August so it may not be long after that.

Didn't Moffat say that Clara was going to show up somewhere around Christmas? I'd guess that the new series won't start until November if that's the case.
They did advanced screenings of Eleventh Hour for school kids a good while before it was shown on TV, so I think we may well have a while to wait.
