And Ghostbusters should've been one of 'em
Darth Maul's entrance to the hangar bay in Episode 1
In Jurassic Park, when Dr. Grant sees the brachiosaurus for the first time
The bike ride into the sky in E.T.
The string quartet playing on the deck while the Titanic was going down.
Indiana Jones and the Lost Ark - when the huge rock starts rolling down on him
Mr. Blonde in Resevoir Dogs, doing his little ear-cutting dance
Gandalf confronting the balrog in The Fellowship of the Ring
The charge of the Rohirrim into the battle around Minas Tirith in The Return of the King
Yoda's entrance to confront Count Dooku in Attack of the Clones
The Star Destroyer appearing at the beginning of A New Hope
And Ghostbusters should've been one of 'em
Yoda's entrance simple because of one of my friends lines when yoda walked in. "man its amazing what he can do when you take frank oz's hand out of his butt."
Although I have to say the most powerful scene I have ever seen was in american history X. It was both sad and powerful. I won't give it away though you have to watch it and you will know what scene I'm talking about.
Also the seen in signs where you see the aliens for the first time is pretty dang cool too.

Yes, but you have two Star Wars and LotR moments in there. I think there should only be one for both of those. Because then Ghostbusters could be added, along with the ROUS jumping on to Westley in The Princess Bride.
Definitely Dave Kujan looking at the wall at the end of the Usual Suspects. Absolute class.
Ooh yeah, that's an excellent moment.
Everyone's a critic. Plus, I can't remember every special moment in every movie. I put up the 10 I thought of first.
Next time I'll ask people to nominate favorite moments and then put up the ten best, ok?
That's why, you then have a poll play off... ten weeks, with movie moment madness and then force everyone to choose from the 10 winners for the ultimate movie moment. >=}
Ah, that would work!
In Eye Of The Beholder, with Ewan McGregor, whenever he goes after that guy who was attempting to rape Ashley Judd/ doping her up. Brass Knuckles in hand, the door opens- you know what happens.
But for the selection at hand, IMO, Maul hands down. Especially with the growl pre-attack.
As for suggestions (I will think of more). Being a Potter fan I am going to nominate the return of Voldemort. That is the only scene in that series so far that really qualifies. Tomorrow I might nominate some more. I just need to think heh.
I think I'm going to run five weekly polls and take the top two finishers from each and do the end poll from those. That way it won't take as long, and we'll only have to come up with 50 movie moments instead of 100.
I have some suggestions
Psycho-The famous Shower scene
The Godfather-Horses head in the bed
Michael killing Barzin and Police Captain
Planet of the Apes-Statue of Liberty in the sand
Empire Strikes Back- "I am your father"
Back to the Future- The scene where Doc Brown helps Marty get back to 1985 (when the clock gets struck by lighting)
Field of Dreams: when Kevin Costner see his Father at the end of the movie.
I tried to think of one memoriable scene from Silence of the Lambs, but I can't pick one from that movie.
I voted for the Jurassic Park one, but there's loads more I'd put in the bracket...
A definite one is in Jaws when Brody is shovelling the fish guts and raw meat off the back of the boat and the shark suddenly appears for a split second. Brody then backs off, awe-struck, into the cabin and says to Quint - 'You're gonna need a bigger boat.. I've put that in spoiler tags becase although its a film most people would have seen, I'd hate to ruin it for the few who might not have. Its one of my all-time fave films and another viewing is long overdue.
Some others...
Silence of the Lambs - when you first see Lecter in his cell, standing straight in the centre of his room - God, that gave me shivers.
Also - in Aliens when Hicks checks the ceiling crawlspace and finds the aliens - like cockroaches! Or at the end when the queen emerges from the the dropship.
Usual Suspects scene is a great one too.
I like the scene in Garden State where they get up on the bulldozer and scream into the abyss in the rain.
How about the scene when Neo walks through the metal detector in the Matrix and is asked to remove any metalic items?
As cool as that was, I personally wouldn't class it as a movie magic moment.
The bullet stopping scene at the end of The Matrix is definately a moment for me.
