    Morning Run (Iaura's training)

James stretched out, waiting for her padawan to arrive. It was about five in the morning, Coruscant Standard Time, and the halls that connected the practice rooms were mostly empty. It was the perfect time for a morning run. She'd started running in these passages as soon as she'd arrived, and the other early risers were used to seeing her getting her five miles in.

The halls were long and straight, and James was sitting nearly in the middle of one of them, touching her toes for a count of twenty. She was wearing leggings and a short tunic, and comfortable running shoes.

Her padawan would be there any minute - she'd told her to dress appropriately for running, but hadn't mentioned just how far she intended to go. It would be a test to see just how in shape Iaura was.

and if you go, furious angels will bring you back to me

Iaura had risen and dressed for running like James had told her to, and was now on her way to meet her master. It was very peaceful at that time in the morning, with there being very few other people in the halls.

Soon she spotted James in the middle of the hall she was waking down. Iaura approached and greeted her, then began to do a few preparatory excercises herself.

James felt someone coming, and looked up to see who it was. "Hey, Iaura, good morning." Her padawan greeted her, and started warming up her muscles as well. After a few moments it appeared that both were ready, and James nodded in the direction she wanted to run.

"Let's get goin', we've only got about an hour or so before these halls start gettin' a bit crowded." She grinned at her padawan, and they took off down the hall at a moderate pace.

Iaura kept pace with James, running beside and a little behind her. After a short time it occurred to her that she didn't know how long they would be running for this morning. She thought about this for a second or two then decided to ask.

    "How far are we going?"

James grinned at the question. "We're goin' until we can't anymore. Let me know if you need to stop to walk for a bit." She looked sideways at her padawan, and added between breaths, "I usually run about five miles a day, to keep in shape. It's good exercise."

They kept going, turning corners and dashing past empty training rooms. After they turned one complete, but twisted loop, James ticked off one mile mentally. They continued on their run, the knight continuing at the same pace. She usually stretched out her legs for the last mile and ran as fast as she could push herself, but that wasn't for a while yet.

"Great," Iaura replied, with a slight grin.

She carried on running at the same speed beside James, gradually finding it more difficult as time went by. Iaura noticed that as they passed the point where they had started again, she was further behind than she had been, and made an effort to catch back up.

James looked over her shoulder at her apprentice, "C'mon girl, we've got four more laps!" She grinned to show she was having fun, and then faced forwards again as Iaura caught up. "Do you need me to slow down? Pushing too hard isn't wise, if you're not used to long distances."

"Don't worry about me," Iaura replied, and grinned a little.

Once she had caught up again she didn't have too much trouble keeping pace with James, although she would have been lying if she's said it was easy.
