As of [current galactic-standard date] project IS33471-9 (hence forth termed ‘Nightmare’) is to be considered failed and hear-by terminated under the auspices of the Primaris Evaluation Division. All remaining data classified under Article 8, Section7, Subsection D of the Research and Development Codices is to be permanently destroyed.

Purpose:

In the years following the Clone Wars, the advent and advancement of Mechano-Neuro Interface technology in the hazardous construction and astronautical fields lead to considerations of military application.

Founded a year before the Battle of Endor by Inquisitor Karl Valten, ‘Nightmare’ became the leading research project for military neural interfacing technologies.

Process:

Stage 1: Human Modification [See attached files regarding candidate volunteer/selection process and preliminary results]

Mechano-Neuro interfacing requires heavy and potentially high-risk surgical modification to the subjects neural system. As such candidates must be carefully selected to ensure that chances of rejection by the body are minimal. Original results using established grafting methods proved ineffective for military means, all test subjects were compensated for volunteering.

Surgical and programming techniques were refined over several months and a second candidate selection process produced eight acceptable candidates, six of which successfully completed the augmentation stage. The two others received an honorary discharge from service and compensated for their volunteer.

Stage 2: Mechano-Neuro Interface

All details regarding CMC-400 Experimental Armor are remain classified under Article 8, Section7, Subsection D of the Research and Development Codices and are to be destroyed as per the Charter of Project ‘Nightmare’ upon termination.

Stage 3: Field Testing

Evaluation:

While Project Nightmare maintains a flawless record and the instatement eight members with no causalities over the course of its operation team. It is the conclusion of this Committee that the cost in resources and lack of overall efficiency greatly outweigh the potential gains offered by the widespread use of military mechano-neuro interfacing.

We regret that Project Nightmare must be considered a failure and be terminated. All personnel part of this project are sworn to their oath of silence regarding any aspects of Project Nightmare still regarded as classified and are to be immediately reassigned.
