The Merchant Quarter of Iziz was already buzzing with activity although it was barely sunrise. Shops were either in the middle of opening for the day, or receiving some new goods to be offered. While Yolahn Square was the epicenter of trade, many shops and eateries took over the myriad of smaller streets just North East of it. While the area was mostly run by locals, many visitors came for business as well as leisure, which kept this sector of the city one of its most prized and busiest areas.
It was in these more discreet corners that Alice loved spending some of her rare off-duty mornings. She would have liked to take this stroll with Rodrik but he as on duty that morning, and she refused to play favorites even though she was the Commander of the Queen's Guard. Did she think she could have played the whole scheduling game better? Damn right, she did; but she wasn't going to re-shuffle planning just because she wanted more time with her companion. At least they still managed to cross paths in a private capacity on a regular basis.
The Albaryn-born blonde enjoyed blending in as well, taking some time off for herself and also get a sense of the city without making her stand as Commander. Dressed in black slacks and boots, with a vibrant blue tunic, with only a vibro-knife and a pouch attached to her belt, she enjoyed the anonymity.
And yet, something had been tugging at her senses whenever she had visited the Merchant Quarter in the past two months. It was the work of the Force, a discreet darkness, which she had grown curious about. Since her mentor had passed away several years prior, Alice had encountered only a few fellow Force users, among them the Queen against all odds. She had sensed this presence a few times, even though she had the habit of conceal her own darkness, for her kind was rarely welcome, sometimes even hunted.
Time would tell when she would solve the mystery of this elusive blip on her radar.
