DESCRIPTION:

Albaryn has an overall welcoming climate, with two long seasons (spring and Fall), and two short ones (winter and summer), save for its arctic region that has a rougher cold climate with many blizzards. The planet has many mountains and forests, as well as long coastal regions by its three oceans. It is the major center and the largest population of the system.

Bellataine, its largest moon, has a similar climate, although the seasons are about the same duration. It has more forests, and lakes rather than oceans. Many preserved Tainarian sites are on Bellataine, and several festivals are still celebrated to commemorate the extinct species. One of the system’s universities is situated there, with a large Archeology and Humanities department. Bellataine is also home to one of the largest orphanage group of the sector, funded by many Albar nobles. The Bakelan Orphanage has five sites on Bellataine, and is under Lady Fireya Merril’s patronage.

Hural Prime is the warmest moons with a lot of jungles and patches of desert in its southern hemisphere. It includes few cities, including its capital housing one of the two sites of the Albaryn military academy, as well as numerous settlements, mostly for miners or hunters. The many predators’ skins, as well as gemstones veins provide most of the riches of the moon. An organization for preservation of natural life ensures that poaching doesn’t put the native fauna at risk. In the past decade, part of the planet has been developed into luxury resorts, a project helmed by Countess Tel’Kharn.

Hural II has a colder climate with lots of mountains and tundra. Its population used to be poorer than the rest of the system but the industrialization process was beneficial to them in the last centuries. It eventually became the major industrial site in the system, which included a few trading centers, even though the bulk of commerce offices have remained on Albaryn. Some of its fauna also offers luxurious furs and leathers, which has helped the moon’s economy.

HISTORY:

Albaryn prided itself in its neutrality in galactic conflicts for many centuries, but nevertheless had to battle a lot of in-system issues.

Its early development was marked by many settlements that traded with very little political framework.

In 3000 BBY, it had to struggle against the invasion from Trandoshan slavers seeking to prey on the native species, the feline near-human Tainarians, who along with humans were the original inhabitants of the world and its moons. The conflict lasted for four centuries, leaving few Tainarians alive. The local sent emissaries to request help, and this was how Cathars and Togrutas began moving to the system, their descendants making a life for themselves after helping repelling the Trandoshan and then Hutt slavers.

Following the liberation of the system from its invader, a political system was established, with old trading families, most humans, taking leadership positions. Some Tainarians also participated but the generations grew weaker after the conflict, and suffered multiple health issues, eventually leading to their extinction about 1000 BBY.

Since then, the other inhabitants have continued to preserve the history and monuments of the Tainarians, supported by most political leaders.

The Albars have also inherited from the extinct Tainarians a sex positive attitude and an open mind regarding relationships: all orientations, as well as both monogamy and polyamory are well-accepted and legally supported.

The Tainarians also used to offer their rebellious and adventure-thirsty individuals the option to become part of the Tainar Corsairs, who served the ruling class, protected against actual outlaws, and could explore outside of the system. Several times, nobles and even military emitted concerns and outright antagonism to the Corsairs, but Queen Alara Doforl consolidated their legitimacy when offering them two representatives in the parliament.

In 550 BBY, off-world scientists attempted to work with archeological remains to bring the Tainarians back to life, but the first Starfallen Queen, with the help of a parliament, enacted a law forbidding them to conduct such work deemed an abomination.

Albaryn had a few peaceful and thriving centuries as it focused on programs to develop its education system, as well as growing metallurgic industries thanks to importation.

The next civil war that occurred in 25 BBY threatened to destabilize the whole system and risked having it fall prey to the larger forces at play in the galaxy; but thanks to its former Queen and key allies, peace was restored in 15 BBY.

In light of their general neutral approach to the grand scheme of things until the recent decades, the Albars have had little opinion either way about Force users. As long as public order remains, they are a fairly welcoming people.

POLITICAL SYSTEM:

Albaryn and its moons are led by a monarchy and an elected parliament of representatives. The King and Archness of Albaryn oversee the system, while Counts and Countess are in charge of individual moons.

The Starfallen family has been the ruling one for several generations, but civil unrest grew to the point that a coalition of nobles and elected agents rebelled against the system in attempting a coup against Archness Tira Starfallen and her new crowned son, Bahar Starfallen.

In these difficult times, the aging Tira reached out to former protégée, Avara Tankreyd (nee Kashan), and convinced her to leave everything behind to help her win what had become a civil war. Peace was eventually restored but King Bahar and his wife mostly neglected their people, leaving most of the work to the Counts and the parliament.

When their son Varyan took the throne at a young age, he swore to reestablish industries and art, as well as consolidate the educational system, in order to have the system flourish again and partake more into the life of the Alliance. While the planet had been in Alliance space for years, it had never fully participated as it could have. He has been actively supporting the reconstruction of the city of Efanesk for it to become an Alliance outpost, as well as the addition of a more involved Albaryn representative in the Galactic Senate.

Bellataine is currently under Captain Seraphine Tankreyd’s supervision, after her mother, Countess Avara, stepped down about a decade ago.

Hural Prime is currently overseen by Countess Shasati Tel’kharn, and Hural II by Countess Marian Rayner.

The mines of Hural Prime are overseen by House Praji.

The military forces of the system are currently under Commander Meral Eshar’s leadership.

Alice Di Scarra, Commander of the Royal Guard for Queen Adraudia Basillie of Onderon is from a minor noble family of Albaryn and childhood friend of King Varyan Starfallen's.

One of the primary figures among the Tainar Corsairs is Vic Starfallen, one of the King’s cousins.

The official colors of the systems are dark grey and blue. Those colors were the ones used by the extinct Tainarian race. When they disappeared, the system's leaders agreed to use the colors as remembrance.
