Jorrun Cyer

"Rreadjy to drrop frrom hjyperrljight."
"Do it."
The brilliant swirl of FTL space broke into individual needles of light against the black, and contracted instantly into the fixed pinpricks of stars. The decks purred with the combined energies of deceleration and the release of hyperdrive engines, providing just enough of a buffeting to rattle the teacup resting on the saucer of K'ohta'rrou Cyer's chair. He'd been at space for so long that it was automatic to place the palm of his white-gloved hand over the rim of the glass to hold it still for that moment of release, and then it was done. The other hand calmly tapped a switch at it's respective arm rest.
"Captain Ceergorra to the command deck."
Of course, Mdharra Ceergorra was probably already on her way at the first tremor of realspace she felt in the soles of her feet. This was still her world, and Jorrun Cyer was just passing through it. His boss was emblematic of that feline capriciousness that could cozy up one moment and claw you the next. Some officers might find it tiresome to never know where they stood with their Captain, but Jorrun had her figured out. As long as he was on the razor's edge, he was still passing muster. And the way he figured it, if it was good enough for Mdharra Ceergorra, it was good enough for any Suun'da'rrou in the fleet.
Jorrun sipped his tea. If he had more than forty-five seconds of this moment, that would be a surprising show of tardiness for her. He took the time to get an unfettered glimpse of Jovan Station in the space ahead. Far from the unsettled outpost it had been a year and a half ago, the station was teeming with activity. He could see nearly two dozen ships. Some military, some civilian. Some berthed, and some either on entry or departure vectors. The gateway of the Hydian Way had become a busy and important place.
The door hissed open. Forty seconds. She was good. Jorrun rose from the chair at the peak of the command dais as a Su'taun'rrou filled the air with "Suun'da'rrou on deck!" Wordlessly, Cyer vacated the seat of command, moving to the chair at his right as Captain Ceergorra took her place.
"Contact the sstatjion. jI want to sspeak wjith Commanderr Akjiena."
